What a nightmare..
Oh, this world we're living in.
Btw what was a 6 yr old doing at a midnight showing?!

I know this is just so sad.
@chopsuey119: I read an article on cnn that said a baby was hurt too. I am not sure why a parent would take a 6 year to such a dark and violent movie.

OMG! how terrible! in the past year, i don't know if DH & i are just more aware, but it seems, at least in our area, violent acts are on the rise. we've had a shooting in broad daylight on the courthouse steps, brawls where firearms were pulled in the middle of the day at a YMCA, and most recently a guy was shot and killed watching the fourth of july fireworks with his family. i've become one of those people that considers moving to the suburbs and saying things like, 'what has this world come to?'

@mrs. bird: The suburbs aren't safe either, I live on the outskirts of a farm town/military town and they issued a "crime alert" last night for one of the nicer neighborhoods in town because someone kicked a door in on a 13 y/o girl that they knew was home alone. I've noticed a huge increase in my area too.
I get such mixed emotions watching/reading the news every morning. There are people being so awful right next to 8 y/o boys raising money to fix their neighbors house haha

It's absolutely devastating.
ABC just reported a 3 month old was the youngest victim.
THREE MONTH OLD in a midnight showing. People suck.

People are so cray-cray now days. It's really sad to see this being the trend to the future.

Yeah I dont get why there were such young kids at a late show...
I really dont understand why people want to shoot strangers who never did them any harm. I really dont get it at all.

I read about that earlier this morning as well. I really don't understand what goes through these peoples minds when doing such things...

Sad that there are such disturbed people out there. Reminds me of Columbine.

@Mrs. Jacks: Me too - and only 13 miles away - I really hope that no one who was at Columbine HS that day happened to be at that movie theater last night.

How did the guy get past the ticket booth if he had all this stuff with him? They said he had a gas mask, two guns and im not sure what else .... What was he wearing a trench coat in 90 degree weather? You would think that someone would have noticed something fishy going on.. such a sad tragedy.

@chopsuey119: I've been to a lot of midnight showings and I see young kids in there all the time!
I personally don't think it's a good idea to take young kids to midnight showings. It's too late! Plus, this particular movie was really dark and had a lot of violence.

@lovelife: They said he came in from an emergency exit and right into the movie theater. So he bypassed all of that.
As for the gas mask, I saw a lot of people dressed up as Batman, cat women, clowns (like from the last batman movie) and Joker. I would just think it was a costume.
