Plant it in the fall and forget about it! I made the mistake of planting in the spring and it really needs the winter to get ready. I wouldn't worry too much about daily watering, etc. because I know a few people who plant them and let them go wild (they get the water from the rain only).

What? I'm pretty sure you don't need all of that. Just put a bunch of cloves in the ground and see if they like the location. If there's too many, you pull them out and toss it

I heard they're actually good for pests and plan on planting them in various locations.

@shopaholic: According to my MIL they're supposed to eliminate the fungus that sometimes grows under rose leaves. It's worked for her so far! I don't have roses, but I plan to mix them into my flowerbeds.

The woman who used to live at my house apparently loved garlic and I assure you it's the easiest thing ever- I literally do nothing and each year have tons of it. I need to get better about harvesting it and drying it.

Thanks for the reminder! I've read it's super easy. Drop it in the ground in the fall and forget it! October I've read is is the best time for my region.
