My son and husband are sick with colds and I'm on my way. Im also 37 weeks pregnant. I'm doing what I can to kick it quick and hoping the baby stays put until we're better. Can anyone share stories about their experiences of being sick right before or after a baby is born?

I caught a bad cold at 39 weeks. It sucked but I just tried to get rest and take care of myself. Someone told me to be thankful I was sick before LO's birth because the baby got extra antibodies? I'm not sure if that is 100% true. I hope you feel better soon!!

I got a bad cold (and cold sore) week 39, she came at 41w and while I couldn't smooch her with the cold sore the cold cleared upon her arrival! Week 35 with #2 here and we just had the 24 hour stomach flu go through the three of us, wouldn't wish it on anyone!

I just watched this E! reality show "Jessie & Eric"... She was super pregnant and contracted H1N1

DH was super sick last week, and now I've got it. It started out as a head cold, then it became a chest cold, which has made me wheeze like a mad woman. But the worst part is that I'm pretty sure that one of my friends also gave me strep, because my mouth is covered in red dots.
Did I mention I'm due today? Ugh.

I was sick a lot during my last pregnancy but the worst was between 33-37 weeks and I coughed (and snissed) so much during that time. Sleep was impossible and I was so grumpy but I also had my toddler to take care of. I also got food poisoning after I felt better and I had to go to L&D Triage for IV fluids....the rest of pregnancy went pretty well after that.

@autumnlove: Thanks! I think it's the taking care of a toddler that is the icing on the cake. It's pretty hard to balance everyone's needs while feeling awful! I can't even imagine adding food poisoning to it. You are one strong mama!

@Beyond2: I had a GI bug the weekend before my scheduled c section. It REALLY sucked the life out of me. I was especially sad because it was LO1's last weekend as an only so I was hoping to get out to do some fun activities with him. It really made me sad the weekend was ruined and I was pretty exhausted in the days prior to adding a new baby to our lives!

I caught the mother of all colds at 37 weeks, and the only thing that helped was Tylenol PM and missing a day of work. I hadn't slept more than five hours in two days, and taking that day to sleep and rest really helped me. Granted, I didn't have a LO running around, so I imagine that things will be different next time.
