My toddler got her first 3 weeks ago with a very bad respiratory infection (which she suffers from pretty much chronically in the winter). I guess it opened the gates, because she has had them again for about 3 days. Ask me how many loads of laundry I have done w/ different detergents and foods I have eliminated for her, 'just in case.'
Did you know the great thing about hives is you can't always determine the cause? Awesome.
We will figure it out eventually, I am just pissed tonight.

I get hives all the time it is absolutely miserable. In fact I have an issue right now in the middle of my back that I have no idea what is causing it and I haven't changed detergents. I also get then from the sun and my sisters kid gets them from the cold. Good luck and invest in calamine lotion.

A lot of times it's post viral and you won't find anything. Hang in there!

My son got them all the time from 12 months to 30 months. We took him to the doc for them all the time, and they always said "it's probably viral," and then prescribe some cream that never did anything! Time healed him.

@brownie: we are so lucky because she is weirdly unaffected- if they don't go in her mouth or swell her eyes shut, she ignores them. I'm sorry you deal with this -one mosquito bite can drive me insane so I would go all 'beautiful mind' and be digging in my skin if hives happened!
@Mrs. Jacks: omg- thanks! This is the first I have heard of 'post viral' and if that's it, it relieves so much stress!
@MamaBehr: thanks also for the hope she will grow out of it.Now I just have to convince daycare she can come. I miss too much work for her actual illnesses and cannot miss for hives, too.

@lizzywiz: glad to be of service. You'll drive yourself nuts trying to find the culprit and people rarely ever find it. They should resolve in two to six weeks.
