What do you use on LO's face, specifically their dry chapped cheeks? Any suggestions on a mild, hypoallergenic face lotion (we need to avoid oatmeal, as well as an entire list of other things)?
We use either California Baby or Aquaphor all over DS (body and face) but he screams when it hits his cheeks/face. I'm thinking it burns his chapped cheeks! I try to warm it up in my hands before applying so I don't think it's a temperature issue.

I use Vaseline. About Aquaphor, I keep reading that over-use can lead to allergies so I switched to Vaseline.

We don't use anything and I think were recommended not to use anything. A baby's skin shouldn't be dried out, if it is maybe look at the bath products you are using. The only time we have had issues is when we used Johnson & Johnson stuff. Apparently it is equivelant to dishwashing liquid! Eek! We used Moo Goo, a cream we had to treat LO's cradle cap.

@andrea: I rarely use Aquaphor, but when our pedi first mentioned it to use I felt DS was reacting to it. After reading your comment I'm more inclinded to say he really was!
@cupcakemama: I've heard that about J&J products! Aveeno is owned by them as well, I think, so I would hesitate to use them as well. It's more of a wind burn type dry, red skin. It also gets worse when he is reacting to a food, but I've noticed a change with the colder weather. I sometimes put Grandma El's diaper rash cream on them which does seem to help.

My son's getting chapped lips and chin from bfing.
I'm specifically interested in natural products/remedies. From a little research, it seems like olive oil might be a good idea.

I used to bathe my LO in olive oil and milk, the midwife also recommended using it for chapped skin, his or mine.
If the smell is too strong, you can always try rapsoil, not sure what the english word is, but it's an oil made from yellow flowering plants....

LO had the same problem and as it turns out, she has eczema. At its worst, her cheeks can get red, raw, start peeling and even bleed (gah!). We slather Vaseline like it's going out of business (and also because LO swipes it off with her sleeve and we have to keep slathering). If it's REALLY bad, then we resort to our prescribed hydrocortisone.

@anbanan15: for now we use Cetaphil excema cream for infants. Seems to work quite well, but I think Vasoliine may be ur best option!

I used California Bably Calendula cream! I actually haven't put anything on her face recently though. It's warm and humid here!

I use cetaphil cream lotion (it comes in a tub).
I have super sensitive skin and it's what my deatologist recommends and the pediatrician also recommended it for my baby girls.
She sometimes gets dryness and redness on her checks and chin from nursing and drooling an the cetaphil definitely helps

My son has dry skin and mild eczema. Our pediatrician recommended a lotion called CeraVe. Best stuff ever. As soon as we used it, his skin became baby soft! You can find it on amazon.
