I can't believe our babies are turning 3!! Has anyone started planning anything yet? We did a big first birthday for her (mostly adults) but no 2nd birthday party. I wasn't going to do anything this year unless she asked, and well she asked! She says she wants an Elsa birthday party with an Elsa cake of course. I think we're going to have a party at a nearby cafe and play type place. I'm still deciding if we should invite some of her preschool friends as well. Just curious what everyone else is planning!

I started off the year thinking I'd have a big 3rd birthday party but doesn't look like it will happen. There's this awesome space (indoor treehouse!) I was looking at but I don't have a lot of kids to invite to justify it. Oh wells! We might do something smaller

DS1 is turning 3 Sept 28th! We are having it at the zoo-he LOVES the zoo-renting a small indoor room for cake, etc.
We are inviting family, church friends and daycare friends. He just switched classrooms at daycare and they split up some of the kids he has been with for years so we will be inviting those kids too! Yikes at the guest list
Luckily most families are already zoo members, so we won't have to pay for that many admission tickets. I cannot believe he will be 3 so soon

DS1 is 3 next month. The theme is paw patrol. We'll have a bounce house, BBQ, lots of food, cake, and family. He is getting excited and keeps telling everyone it's his birthday.

M's bday is in mid-Dec (still technically Fall, right?). We're just going to do another small family party at the house. She's starting pre-school in Sept so I think I'll hold off on the friends party until next year - I just don't have the mental or physical energy for that this year when I'll be 7 mo pregnant

Dd turns 3 on sept 1st and her birthday party is this weekend! We're having a rapunzel themed party at a local park playground. It should be super fun. Can't believe my baby is three

@katsupgirl: yeah thats part of my debate too. if i invite her preschool friends it'd be enough kids, but if i don't then i wouldn't have enough to justify hosting a party at the cafe and play place. it doesn't seem like shes super good friends with anyone from preschool, but maybe thats normal at this age and its just about "knowing" them?? (sorry rambling..)
@lilyann: my daughter just got sent up to the 3's class so half her friends are in the 2's class still. i feel like she played with the younger kids more so i'm thinking about inviting some of them too. are you inviting all the kids in both classes?

@kodybear: No. I will invite his whole new class (12 kids) but only the select friends from the other class. He was really good friends with about 3 of them, so it is not too many.

Same here! Big first bday party andjust family dinner for second. Going to throw one this year since baby bro is getting. Lot of attention right now.
Probably at our house and Mickey Mouse themed!
He's starting preschool after Labor Day w 9 other kids so will probably invite all of them and our friends/fam kids.

We are throwing a party at a cool playspace in brooklyn! I booked it 2 months ago and we were just talking about whether to invite her classmates from preschool because that will double our guest list.

she has an early October birthday so I don't know if she'll have made friends. Most likely we will do a cake/cupcakes at school and a family celebration.

DS's birthday is in mid October. I haven't even really thought about it much. Just finished up DD's big first birthday party so that took up enough mental capacity for me. lol
We did big first bday for him and just small family get together for second. I'm debating another small get together with family this year. Or maybe taking him for his first trip to Disneyland.

We did the same as OP: huge first birthday and practically nothing for her second. They just opened a kids indoor playground that's very reasonably priced so we'll be doing a small party for her there. we also got a Disneyland pass so we're going to make sure she gets a birthday badge for the added attention they give to birthday visitors

My son will be 3 in October but we have a new baby arriving at the end of Septmeber. We had a huge 1st birthday, and ended up with a pretty big 2nd. I think this time we will just have a family party at our house.... And I want to fill his room with balloons while he is sleeping to wake up to! We will also make cupcakes to bring into school - and they make a big deal out of birthdays which is fun

DD is turning three in November and I think we will hire the party room in our building but not sure on a theme yet. We will be moving back to England a few weeks later so I want to invite all her friends, as it will also be a little goodbye party for her.
Since we don't have family here, her parties have always been friend ones. -
My daughter will be 3 in October (AHHH where has the time gone) we do parties every year (it's something we really like to celebrate is their special day) so we are having a Sofia The First themed bash at a local party room. I'm not going overboard with the decorations, just ordering pizza and cake and calling it good! I'm avoiding Pinterest this party because I tend to go WAY overboard if I start trying to do that.

My DS is also turning 3 in November. And since we just moved into a house, i assume we will have a party there. Mostly friends, and my mom may decide to come to town for it as well. If I do a theme, i may try to make it an outer space one since he has been in love with the space section at the science centre for the past year and that is the theme i will be using to decorate his new big boy room.

I can't decide what to do for LO's bday in November. It is always around Thanksgiving so planning is difficult.

@hellocupcake: we used to have a Disneyland annual pass! It expired but my husband wants to get it again. But now we'd have to pay for DD!! Boooo!

When is everyone sending invites (for those bdays that aren't coming up in the near future). We're end of November so maybe send out invites early oct? I haven't sent out formal invites in a long time ( maybe wedding was the last time??) but if we invite her preschool friends I feel like we should do it w a formal invite
@katsupgirl: haha in our case we would need the bodies! The play place has a number of kids included in the cost so it would only be worth it for close to that number of kids. And our daughter has only been to two parties both at that place so I think she thinks that's where all bday parties are. Haha. Well prob invite some kids. She's known a lot of them for years since they started as infants together.

A is early Dec. She requested months ago to have a circus party so I'm going with that. It will just be at home. We skipped a second birthday party and she is obsessed with birthday parties. I'm debating doing it the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend or the weekend after that (her birthday is in between those two weekends). I want to do it sooner than later so I can get up my Christmas decorations a week earlier, but need to made sure most of her friends will be in town.

Dd will be 3 in mid September and we are doing a family lunch and planning on taking her to Disney (live in SoCal) just the three of us before she becomes a big sis a few weeks later! Assuming I'm ok and not in labor that is!
Time has flown. I can't believe we are touring preschools and she's potty trained in a big girl bed and talks up a storm! And lately she is looking so old! She was on the swings yesterday and the other kids were more like four or five and she actually blended in ok.

We'll definitely have a big family dinner with cake and stuff. It would be nice to have another party with his friends, but we've been to three parties for kids his age so far and usually the kid whose birthday it is ends up pretty overwhelmed and crying... especially that one time when the party was at the birthday boy's house and all the kids kept fighting over toys!

Thomas the train themed party on sept 7. This will be his last day of birthday. All three have fallen on weekends and this one is Labor Day.

LO turns 3 mid October, which is also when I am due with Baby #2! I think we will reserve the rooftop of our building and invite some friends and our parents. I want to try to see if I can get a volunteer firefighter to come and talk to the kids, since LO is fire truck/fire fighter obsessed. We will prob do it Oct 5th.
