Today is DS's birthday. I would usually be having a party for him but.... My grandma is in the hospital with a brain aneurysm and possible surgery today. So I am not having a party for him. Considering the circumstances I have no idea what to do for him for his birthday. I feel almost like I'm short changing him by not throwing a party but even if I did throw a party everyone would be at the hospital. What do I do? Please give me ideas.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother.
I think you can make his birthday special without a party. We didn't have a party for LO's second birthday, instead we had his favorite breakfast, went to the kids gym, had his favorite lunch, watched a movie he picked, etc. and he opened a present from us and we played with that. He had fun!

Whay about doing a day that's all about him and his favorite things. Favorite thing to do, eat,etc. Basically making the whole day his dream day and all about him. -
Make his favorite food and a special cake or cupcake.

I would take the money that would have gone to a birthday and buy him an awesome present. Along with taking him out to dinner where the waiters will make a big fuss about his birthday and make him feel special with a birthday dessert.

I'm so sorry to hear about you grandma.
Take LO out to do something he wants to! We didn't have a party for her 2nd and 3rd. We went out for brunch, took her to the zoo, made her favorite dinner and had birthday cake. We celebrated with grandparents and her uncle on the weekend.
