Blackberries and raspberries are in prime season right now. What are your go-to desserts that include them? I made a berry crumble the other day and it was okay. I'd like to try something new!

Pound cake with berries and whipped cream! Or a custard tart or cheesecake covered with berries. I prefer my fruit uncooked.

@mediagirl: Ice cream! I love using berries for ice cream, especially blackberry or blueberry.

I actually like blackberries in savory things! I make blackberry butter for muffins and waffles and also a blackberry easy reduction sauce for pork or chicken! For sweet, blackberry or raspberry cinnamon rolls are yummy too!

@mrschickpea: mmmm that reduction sounds delicious. @BananaPancakes: yes, ice cream! We haven't made any yet this year. Great idea. @MrsSRS: mmmm cake with berries and cream...

Next week when we have some visitors I am going to make a berry tart that I sampled at Publix. The recipe is super easy.
Shortbread pie crust, Greek yogurt with honey, favorite berries, make two layers and dust top with powder sugar.
I will use blackberries, blueberries and either raspberries or strawberries. Most likely I will finely shred mint to mix with the berries.

Bourbon Vanilla Blackberry cobbler - I use store bought pie crust and the recipe is really easy.
8 cup berries, 4 c. sugar, 3 c. water - bring to a boil and simmer until thickened (about 1 hr.)
Melt 4 tbsp butter and whisk in 3 tbsp flour. Thin the butter mixture out with some of the juice from the berry mixture, then combine. Add 1/4 c. bourbon and 1 tsp vanilla and cook 15 more minutes.
Place mixture in a casserole or pie dish and top with pie crust. Bake per crust instructions. (These volumes are approximate as I just eyeball most of it.)
It's best served with a little vanilla ice cream.

@yoursilverlining: I haven't done it with bourbon in the raspberries, but it is delicious with raspberries and I think it would be pretty good with bourbon.

Blackberry fool - and the kids can help mash the berries! The book referenced in the below link is really good too. Depending on how sweet your blackberries are, I'd cut back on the sugar.
