We did a bassinet with both babies. If my kid is waking every 2 hours, I'll be damned if I have to actually get out of bed lol

We did a bunch of different things with our 2 kids, but my current is my all time favorite - we just left one side off her crib and pushed it up against the bed. When she got big enough to move around we put up a crib bed rail. When she's big enough to really move, we will just put up the fourth side.

@Foodnerd81: yes. Its the perfect height. I just lean over and grab her, nurse her and lay her down. Easy peasy.

@Foodnerd81: I had our DD in the Peg Perego bassinet (came with our stroller) on the stand next to our bed until last night when we transitioned her to the pack and play we are taking on our trip next week. It was the perfect height to just reach over and get her, nurse her and put her right back!

This will probably sound awful, but DD slept in my bed since the day we brought her home from the hospital. I should have probably gotten a co-sleeper but didn't. I just read about an amazing cosleeper the other day on the Little Baby Garvin blog...the name is escaping me right now!

@Foodnerd81: With my first child, I attempted the crib from night one. I think that is what led to a year of poor sleep, but he was sleeping in the crib, through the night by 18 months.

DD had excellent sleep until about the last month or so, and I generally felt well rested even though I would nurse her at night. It was awesome especially since my kids are only 17 months apart. I've just started in the past few weeks putting her down in the crib at night and she will sleep in the crib until about 1-3 am and then she wakes up. So...it's kind of a trade off! If I were to have more children, I would also continue to cosleep and then transition to crib later as well!

We had a traditional bassinet that was bed height. It had wheels which I really liked - so that if DH was taking care of her that night, she could be rolled to his side of the bed.

We got an Arm's Reach co-sleeper secondhand from a friend and I loved it completely. I'd keep her in there until college if she'd fit. We finally transitioned her to her crib at 4.5 months and I miss being able to lean over and see her smile.

We got the mini arms reach cosleeper used from a baby store for $50 and it was super clean. We just got new waterproof pads and sheets. I loved it because it was at the height of our bed so no need to get up and baby had her own space. Using it again when DD2 arrives. I love the look of the halo one but there is no reason to spend money on something we already have! We also "rented" it out to our chiropractor for an adjustment so we pretty much got our money back in it already!
