DH and I did it a few weeks ago, when LO was 6 months old. It was really good to take--lots of good info!

We did it at our hospital about a month before the baby was born!

I seriously saved my baby's life with what I learned in that class. It teaches you what to do if they are choking and LO choked last week :'(. I would have normally started freaking out and it never woul have occurred to me to do what I did. I stuck my entire hand down his throat and grabbed out the food, just like they taught us. Food came out and LO started to cry (which is a good sign because it obviously indicates breathing).
It wasnt even a big deal: it just came to me because I remembered it. So, I say go! And take your mother! Especially if she is going to be feeding LO it watchin LO for an extended period of time.

@TurtleDoves: You may have just made my final decision. I was pretty much planning on it anyway-- I hope it is a waste of money and I never need it, but I'd sure rather that than not taking it and needing it.
I think DH and I will take it sometime in the next two months, before LO is born. They offer it very frequently at a place near us.

@Foodnerd81: I think it's critical. I mean, what if your baby (not yours, God forfid!) stops breathing & you can't help them? They can die of sids instead of being rescessitated.
