We've planned a playdate next week to build DIY water tables with friends. But there's a catch...the price of the supplies for the DIY ones appears to be higher than the cost of highly rated tables on amazon.

So I'm hoping to suggest a replacement activity that will actually save money! I was thinking of a latches board, but the one they made at Young House Love cost $35 (same as the Melissa and Doug board).

Has anyone seen (or done) any similar projects that would be fun to make with another family, appropriate for kids around 2 years old, and actually save money?
