My close friend is graduating with her masters on Friday. She loves champagne so I wanted to get her a bottle as a gift but I don't drink it very often.
Any brand suggestions that are easy to get and don't cost $200 a bottle?

This is my favorite champagne but it's a red rosé. Depending on the size of your city it can be hard or easy to find!

Does it reflect poorly on me that my first thought was André? The accent makes it more fancy, of course.
I'm a Prosecco kind of girl and really like Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco. It's pretty easy to find, I think.

@Mamaof2: I had it for the very first time, YEARs ago at BIL's first wedding!

I personally like Perrier Jouet best, but when in doubt Veuve Clicqout will always do.

Domaine Carneros. Around $25 and at most stores and Costco. Second choice would be Domaine Chandon, also easily found and about $20.
If you want to spend more yellow label Veuve Cliquot is everywhere at around $35-40.

I agree with Veuve for an occasion that you want something nicer but don't want to break the bank.

This champagne is pretty okay, but the bottle it comes in is fantastic for celebrations!!!

While i love my Veuve, i've been preferring Pommery these days.

Champagne is my favorite...to the extent that I've been champagne tasting in Champagne. Another Veuve Cliquot yellow label vote here, although there are several brands listed here that I haven't yet tried. I find Veuve to have a depth of flavor that is lacking in many sparking wines (such as a typical California sparkling wine or pro secco).

We had a bottle of Wycliff at a wedding last summer, and it was shockingly good! I usually don't like champagne-esque drinks, but this one was great, not at all expensive, and left me with no hangover.

Piper-Heidsieck, Veuve Clicquot and Perrier Jouet. All options in the $50 range.

@LBee: LOL I'm the same way. But, if it's for a special gift like graduation, I'll up it to... $20 bottle? lol

Veuve Cliquot for the iconic yellow label
Perrier-Jouet is pretty (flowers on the bottle)
