Today's blog post on the RnP got me thinking about what has worked for us and what hasn't. We have not one but TWO rock n plays because I got one as a hand me down and then my aunt got us one as a shower gift (even though I didn't register for it because I already had it) because OMG BEST THING EVER.

Except not so much for us. I didn't want LO sleeping in it unless we couldn't get her to sleep anywhere else because of the flat head issue and also because I've read enough about the RnP to crib transition I didn't want to deal with that. We've put LO in the bassinet attachment on her pack n play since day 1 and she has always slept great, which I think is going to make her transition to the crib really easy. And during the day she just never cared for the rock n play. We found it annoying we had to rock it for her and found it way easy to put her in the bouncer (which is short enough it can sit on the couch next to me) or in the swing (which is battery operated). So we've basically never used the RnP except for one week when she had a cold and needed to sleep on an incline. The second one we have never even made it out of the box.

On the flip side, I LOVE her bouncer. I love that it can sit on the couch next to me so that when she's tired of being held (she's not a super cuddly baby) I can still have her at eye level and sing to her and chat with her. I also love her pack n play because the bassinet attachment makes it a perfect place for night time sleep that is very crib-like while it is still super transportable and it will be great to pen her in when she gets a bit more mobile.

What's been your favorite baby gear? And the thing(s) that just didn't work for you?
