DH is going in to work for the first time since LO was born 11 days ago. He was off all last week and was so amazing; he did the laundry, cooked, and took care of most of the diapers.
Aaaand now I'm alone 0_0
Pep talk welcomed at this point... I'm a little bit terrified of taking care of my gorgeous girl by myself! Serious FTM jitters...

You can handle it! Honestly, when DH went back to work, it allowed LO and I to get into a routine and helped me feel more in control of my days! Just remember that it's okay if the dishes/laundry/cleaning/etc don't get done. Just enjoy your little girl and have fun!

On my first day home alone I was giving LO a bottle.... but I forgot to screw the top on so all of the formula spilled all over her face. She didn't know what was happening and cried so hard. I didn't know if I should feed her to calm her or clean her up because she was soaking wet first.
But now it's something I laugh at. Hopefully you'll have a great first day alone with LO!

You will do just fine! It's so nerve wracking to be there by yourself but you will find your groove with LO very fast. Try not to worry about things around the house until you feel settled. The dishes and laundry can wait

You'll be fine!!! It will definitely be hard, but you'll keep busy with the baby, and before you know it, your husband will be back home!!
The first day Hubs went back to work, I finally decided to break out of our stay-at-home routine and actually went for a walk with Xander. It felt amazing!! I hope you're able to have a good day today!!

@Bookworm: You Can Do This!! Don't worry about getting dressed, cleaning the house, doing laundry, etc. The only thing you need to do is feed LO, change diapers, spend time snuggling, and feed/water yourself. That's IT!

I agree with @hilsy85; being home alone with the baby really helped me get into a routine and start to feel some confidence. You'll do great!!

You can do it! I was nervous when DH went back to work too, but I like our little routines now. Just make sure you take time to get yourself something to eat and rest when baby girl rests... I definitely neglected myself the first week. Have fun!

Hope you have a great day with your LO! Get out for a little walk, even just a few blocks! You'll be fine and your DH will be home before you know it. Can you take a couple pictures and text him during the day? He's probably feeling a little anxious leaving you and your LO and would love updates!

You can do it! I I remember the hardest time I had with my husband being gone was I missed him! He missed our lo, too. Send him some pictures, no matter how bad they are, thorughout the day. He will love it. Remember, he is probably hurting today, too!
I hope he leaves you well stocked to get through the day! My husband would always leave me a glass of water and a pack of peanut butter crackers on the coffee table.

Y'all have awesome pep talks!! So far she's been fed twice, took a cat nap, and been changed, and I managed to take a shower while she napped in the rock in play next to me in the bathroom. I even shaved my legs!!!!! Do you know how glorious that felt!? I was turning intointo chewbacca! It is so much easier to shave without a giant belly in the way...

@Bookworm: I thought this "new dad survival guide" from Scary Mommy was pretty much spot-on.
"2. Come home and get in the house. When you get home this is not the time to chit chat with the neighbor over the fence about how it’s gong with the new baby. Assume that it is always Lord of the Rings orc war in the house and get inside to relieve the day shift because your wife has probably been walking around with that baby thinking “I only have to hang in there 30 more minutes….29…..28.” (see point above)."

My DH was only off for the time I was in the hospital, so I never had him home ( my mom did come help though) make sure you have snacks and food ready for the day! Don't worry about soon anything else except taking care of your LO!

You can do it! Even if today is tough it is a huge accomplishment to be there by yourself and it'll get easier every day! Do you have family / friends nearby who can plan on stopping by this week? I always like having something to look forward to even if it's just a walk with the stroller or somebody stopping by to hold the baby so I could eat a sandwich. Something to break up the monotony. Hope it's going well!

Ergg. The morning went great, and then I managed to have a stupid giant fight with DH at lunchtime, which I'm sure made the rest of his workday just as miserable as my afternoon has been.
At least I got some lovely baby snuggles, and I took her outside on our covered porch to look at the rain! AND I've gotten her down for 2 great naps so far! Almost 3 hrs this morning, and going on hour 2 for this current one! Victory!
I'm tempted to tell DH to work full days the rest of the week (he was considering shortened days) because I feel like we are just fighting constantly... ugh, the stress of a newborn.

hang in there! remember that you are BOTH exhausted (just in different ways) and try to be kind to each other.
