Do your LOs use a nintendo switch? What is their favorite game?
We are a big splatoon 2 family! But also Mario Kart. DH and I like Animal Crossing.

I am so torn if we should get one. Right now they really just like apps on our phone, or on the apple tv, or the Wii.

@hellobeeboston: We have taken the plunge and have one for my son's 8th birthday this weekend. He has been asking so nicely for about a year and a half and we decided that this might be a good year to "give in." I cannot wait to see his reaction... I don't think he thinks it's even a possibility based on our strong "no" front previously but I will be curious to see if he's surprised or not.

We got one for the kids for Christmas last year, but it was a bit premature - they were 3 and almost-6 at the time. We got it with MarioKart, which my older son was obsessed with for a while. I also bought Mario Party which he didn't like as much, and we got Mario and Sonic at the Olympics which was also a real hit for a while. At the moment nobody is really using it, although I keep thinking that my husband and I should get back into MarioKart - we had a real rivalry going on last winter. Once my younger son gets a bit bigger I think it will get more use.

@Periwinkle: we were basically in the exact same place. Said no forever.... Then, with covid, and not having a party, we figured it would be so nice for a big gift like this!
He's going to be SO EXCITED! You should film his reaction opening it.... I filmed our son's reaction it was amazing.

@hellobeeboston: I will definitely record this! It really did feel like the right year to say yes to this, for all of the reasons you mentioned.
Also, over the past 8+ months we have kind of caved on the iPad/computer games so it sort of felt moot at this point...

Mariokart and Mario Odyssey... we also bought a 99 cent mini golf game that DH and E play all the time, pocket golf.
Looking for a few suggestions for Christmas gifts. Anyone tried any of the pokemon games?

We got a switch last year as a family christmas gift from my dad. DD was five when we got it. We have mario party and mario kart - we play both at least a few times a week.

@kiddosc: We have the Pikachu one - it's fine, but kind of boring. My son got sick of it quickly. That being said, he's 6, so it's possible there's more to it than he's really grasping.
