Anything but the one with chocolate bars in a diaper!!
Bingo with the gifts is fun, and using string to guess how big her belly is.

I'm not a huge game person. Once we had a diaper raffle, people brought in diapers and got a raffle ticket for a certain number of diapers. We had gift certificates for prizes. I also like the onesie painting.

I always like the "who knows the mom/baby best" questions, or the last one, they showed the dad a bunch of baby items and he had to guess what they were, we had to guess whether or not he would get them correct!

@MamaMoose: I'm with you... Not a huge fan of the dirty chocolate diapers one... But I think we might do the belly and string one!
@artbee: Yeah I'm trying to stay away from cheesy games! My sis actually told me about the diaper raffle one, so we are doing that for sure!
@jessiejo17: Lol that's funny... I wonder what baby items dad-to-be's would likely get wrong?

@NYCaliMama: He got most of them right, the ones I remember him getting wrong was the head themometer & the nose sucker-outer (techincal term ha.)

@NYCaliMama: It's hard with so many cheesy games out there! I think this is cute http://www.lilsugar.com/April-Showers-Heirloom-Shower-3051976?slide=4. And I helped put on a wedding shower where we did scrapbooking. We had lots of scrapbook stuff, and everybody got to make a page. We asked everyone to bring their favorite picture with the bride, but if they forgot we had a camera and just pinted up pictures there. I think that could be cute too with a baby shower.

I hate the string/belly one!
I like the "What's in the bag?" game w/ the random baby items in a paper bag. The guests have to feel to figure out what the item is, and the mom-to-be gets to keep the loot!

@artbee: awww so funny... both my sister and I pinned that on pinterest at different times! I think we are going to do just that or something very similar! very cute idea for the baby to read when he gets older!
@HabesBabe: what's wrong with the string/belly one? cheesy? hard to win? or both? never heard of the "what's in the bag?" game... thanks!

@NYCaliMama: When I was pregnant I didn't want to measuring your belly one either. I hate being center of attention, plus I really didn't want to bring any more attention to my huge belly.

@NYCaliMama: I think it's rude... hahaha. Some people are like, WAY OFF with the string and I wouldn't feel great seeing what size people think I really am. I guess it depends on the mom!

@artbee: @HabesBabe: aww gotcha! good feedback. we didn't play games at my showers, so I never really thought about it that way! but after my first baby and when I was carrying my 2nd, I just told everyone (who had comments or looked at me funny) up front that, yes my belly gets big when I'm pregnant... haha I'm pregnant, hello!

I like the game where you name the baby version of the animal (e.g. cow -----> calf), I think it's cute!

My mom did really tasteful ones (at my request)
1. Baby item word scramble. Just words mixed up, first with all words right won a prize.
2. Guess the baby animals. A list of animals and you have to name the name of their babies example: Deer=Fawn. First one done got a prize.
3. Guess how many Qtips in a jar closest won a prize
4. Baby item memory game. Things like destin, boogie wipe, binky, etc etc in a basket you give it to each table and tell them to look and try and remember as much as they can. After everyone has seen the basket items you start and whoever gets them all right wins a prize.
5. Diaper raffle. Anyone who brings a pack of diapers gets entered to win a prize. We received SO many diapers it was wonderful.
6. Centerpiece raffle whoever has the closest birthday to Moms due date wins the centerpiece

I love the baby food one. Jars of baby food with the labels peeled off and people have to taste with toothpicks and guess what's what.
Also I did one where I put a bunch of baby related items on a tray and covered it. I uncovered it for 60 seconds, then people had to write down all the items they remembered seeing. The person with the most right wins, and the mom to be gets to keep all the stuff.

My one request for games at my shower is NOTHING that involves touching my belly.
I really like trivia type games because I love random, useless knowledge. I also like the price is right where you buy items (or print pictures and glue on index cards) and guests have to guess the price. Add up their totals at the end, closest without going over wins a prize. I've done this at several bridal showers and a baby shower and it's always been a big hit.
It's a bit easier to keep guests' attention while opening gifts at a baby shower because the baby things are so cute but I do like having someone set a timer for a random amount of time. The giver of the gift being opened at the time wins a prize. Or, give out blank bingo cards and have guests fill them in with items they think the mom-to-be will receive and play bingo as she opens gifts. Set out smarties, skittles, etc. to use as markers.

@eeh: I love the gift-opening games, too! It keeps people interested in the least interesting time of the shower.

@eeh: I love the price is right one! I'll have to keep that one in mind.
@mrs. wagon: the baby food one is another good suggestion. A spinoff from the dirty diaper ones. I went to a baby shower where the guys did the same thing for beers. each had their own cup and they passed a pitcher of beer around and the guys had to guess which beer it was. It was hysterical and great way to include guys!

omg I Just thought of a hilarious one I once saw. It involves guys too. Fill a regular old fashioned baby bottle with water or juice (or beer!) and the guy who drinks it the fastest wins a 6 pack of beer. It is HILARIOUS to watch guys try to drink from a bottle nipple fast!

We did the belly and string one and a word scramble. My SIL and MIL knew I would make a run for it if we had very many since I'm not big on games. It turned out to be really nice and fun though!

@mrs. wagon: I saw the bottle one at a shower once, too. It was so funny! I swear the guy who won must have bitten a hole in the nipple or something because he smoked the other guys.
Usually word/puzzle type games go over really well. Like the baby animal one or or "finish the nursery rhyme"
I did one where you have to guess whether a celebrity baby name is real or not. People got a big kick out of that one because some celebrity baby names are so out there!
I don't like the baby food one. Well, I like hosting the game. I don't like playing it. Blech.
