I think I want to bake a pie mother's day for MIL and I. 
What's your favorite pie that's not atypical such as Apple, cobbler, etc? Do you have a recipe? Bonus points if it's not overly sweet.

@As Time Goes By: It's fairly common to use whipped cream, especially now, but I guess growing up in Key largo in the 60-70's it must have been more common to use meringue. I've been chewed out by my grandmother for even mentioning whipped cream. Like really chewed out. She's got opinions.

I know you've already decided, but I'll put in my 2 cents anyway...
Key lime! (I vote no meringue)
Or fresh strawberry, where it has a cream cheese layer, then fresh strawberries on top, maybe with a little jam glaze, but not cooked.
I love mince pie too, but it's definitely more of a fall/winter thing.
And peach pie, with or without blackberries, mmm. -
I love all fruit pies (peach, rhubarb, marionberry, blackberry, apple..) but I have a soft spot for lemon meringue. I want pie!

Pumpkin is my favorite, but that's seasonal. For spring/summer pies I like strawberry pies, grasshopper pies, and pies like lemon merengue, chocolate chiffon, etc.
I'm not big on all the other berry pies.

I usually add more powdered sugar to the peanut butter/powdered sugar mixture. It's also fantastic with Nutella instead of peanut butter! -
