Any recommendations of places to stay or things to do when visiting Niagra falls? Either on the NY side or Canada side.

I stayed at a hotel called 124 Queen located in downtown NOTL (Niagara on the Lake) for a bachelorette party and it was amazing! I'm not sure if staying in NOTL is the best option for you though if your main goal is to see the falls and mainly hang out and see the attractions in the falls area. But I definitely recommend even just a short visit to NOTL and maybe to a few wineries!
DH and I prefer to stay around NOTL area vs. the falls area because it is closer to the wineries and there are many unique restaurants that are delicious (vs. the chain restaurants that are located in the falls area)! Its fun to just walk around and look at all the shops and bakeries in NOTL too!

@Matcha Latte: thanks so much! I'm from the west coast and have never been that Far East. I'm assuming it's better to go in the summer, right?

Come down to Buffalooooooooooooo!!! There are tons of good restaurants around here!
But yes, Niagara on the Lake is also beautiful. Let me know if you have other questions. When will you be here??

Because of the exchange rate you will get a better deal on the Canadian side. Highly recommend the Sheraton Fallsview or Fallsview Casino if you want to be closer to some of the nightlife

Go wine tasting! The Canadian side has some fantastic wineries, you can either drive yourself, take a tour bus, or even rent bikes. A few of the wineries also have fantastic restaurants. We've spent a LOT of days driving around to wineries in the Niagara region. Personal favourites: Konzelman, Organized Crime, Cave Springs.

We went years ago and stayed at the Marriott Niagara Falls Hotel on the Canada side. It had a stellar view! We did all the typical tourist-y things - Maid of the Mist voyage, Journey Behind the Falls, casino, Butterfly Conservatory and some local museums (can't remember the names). We had a blast!

We're going there this summer! We'll have kids withus, so we're staying in the Embassy suites which is a block or two from the casino for my in laws. I wish we could go to the wineries in the area. I heard from a friend that Wayne Gretzky has a winery in the area and is fabulous.

Everyone says it is nicer to stay on the Canadian side, that is the only thing I've done so I can't compare myself. We went in July and it was beautiful. We stayed at the DoubleTree Fallsview and liked it- it was a bit of a walk to the Falls and attractions but not bad and nice view. I loved the Maid of the Mist! I thought Behind the Falls was only ok.
We ate at a brewery/restaurant one night that had a great prix fix menu and delicious food and beer: http://syndicaterestaurant.ca/

@LovelyPlum: we're thinking the summer!
@regberadaisy: that's an amazing deal! I'll have to check it out, thank you!
@Annette: oh, I didn't even think to check the exchange rate! Thanks!
@MOMTOLITTLEB: what did you get a view of? I don't really know what's in the area besides the falls! (And wineries!)

@Crystal: niagara on the lake is ridiculously beautiful! It's about 15 min outside of Niagara Falls on the Canadian side and I love it!
Check Wagjag/Groupon- there are some amazing deals right now! Hotel plus dinner vouchers plus wine tastings for like $59 CAN

@Crystal: there are some stuff on the American side, but i agree that the Canadian side is much prettier! But if you're around long enough, definitely venture over here into Buffalo! It's 20-30 minutes away. And the summers are just absolute GORG here. And of course Toronto is less than 1.5 hours away on the Express as well.
I have tons of recos if / when you narrow down what you want to do.
