We are planning on getting a play kitchen for our LO this Easter. He will be 17 months old.
I think I know what kitchen we are getting but I can't narrow down what accessories (food, gadgets, shopping cart) items to get. So many seem soo cool! I've been looking at felt food on etsy, wood food on amazon etc...

Pretty much any of the Learning Resources stuff. Its really good quality.

I love the Hape Playfully Delicious stuff. Especially the little wood appliances (toaster, coffee maker & mixer). Melissa & Doug cutting food is a hit too.

The IKEA pots & pans and utensils sets are my LOs favorite part of the kitchen. She also has a set of a coffee maker, mixer, and blender we got at Costco that she loves since she can turn them on.

Another vote for Learning Resources play food and that cookware set shown above.

How old will LO be?
Personally I would wait till at least 18-24m for M&D wooden items because my LO was still putting stuff in her mouth then.
I would start with pots and pans and a small food set

metal pots and pans. the velcro foods from melissa and doug are always big hits as well. a tea set and some play food. wood food tends to chip over time.

Oh yeah, and I love the green toys dishes and tea set! Very durable and can be washed in the dishwasher. We play with them in the bath as well.

Hape and Haba foods on Amazon are lo's favorites.

Agree with velcro cutting food from melissa and doug. My DS loves playing with that. Also the oven mitt that came with one of their pot sets is always a hit.

LO is 8 months and still putting things in his mouth so he loves the Earlyears felt set with produce in a bag. We also have the Hape wooden appliances and food and I found that the paint can chip easily, such as when a friend's 2 yo son came and threw things everywhere.

My 16 month old loves her Learning Resources play food (we have the Garden Fresh Salad Set which has some bowls as well as food, and the Fruit and Veggie Tote). She still puts things in her mouth quite a bit but I don't worry about her play food since it's easy to clean. We have some felt food too but she's never been interested in it.

Metal pots/utensils are a must! They love the noise it makes and I think it seems more real for them.
