We tend to do them three ways:
Oven fries: cut into 1-2" fries and season with garlic salt and evoo.
Cilantro lime sweet potatoes: cube season same as ^ then roast. Toss with cilantro, lime and cayenne
Cheesy twice baked mashed potatoes.

We like to throw them on the grill wrapped in aluminum foil! And I really like using the Japanese purple kinds; so sweet & good to peel and eat!

This recipe is a staple in our house. I don't bother cutting into fry shapes--I just cube. And I triple the spices (literally) because my husband and I really like spice. For kids, I would do the recipe as is.

DH and I personally can't stand sweet potatoes so we never fix them.
I cube and roast them with salt, pepper, and garlic powder for LO though!

I usually just cube and steam them, and eat them plain.
MIL cooks them (microwave) with butter and brown sugar.

Cube, toss in olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Then roast. Only veggie, not in a pouch, R will eat.

Mash them, layer in a dish with sliced apples, brown sugar and cinnamon, and bake. YUM!
And sweet potato fries/wedges with this lime jalapeno aioli from Costco.

@locavore_mama: boil & mash sweet potatoes with way too much butter, some brown sugar and cinnamon. Then layer the potato with sliced peeled apples ( a few layers- potato, apple, potato etc. with apples as the top layer). Cover casserole dish with foil and bake for about 1/2 hour at 350.

I usually buy Japanese sweet potatoes, I'll wrap them up in foil, stick them in the oven and slow roast them. They're delicious and ds is crazy for them.

Usually we just bake them in the oven. I put some butter on mine, but my husband eats them plain. Pretty simple, but they taste yummy on their own without really needing to do much. I do love the sweet potato fries at Outback, though! And candied sweet potatoes on Easter.
