Is it worth to pay for boosting posts and such to FB?
For those that have FB biz pages have you paid for this and did it pay off?
Any tips for getting more likes besides asking family and friends.

For getting likes: Run a contest and the winner is is selected from among those who share/like your page.
Promoted posts: They definitely get your page seen a ton more, but it depends on your product/business. We run promoted posts often and they get a lot of traffic, but our stuff is really only relevant locally, so I'm never sure how much good it does.

If you have a post you want everyone to see, promote it, because otherwise not even all your current "likers" will see it- Facebook is awesome like that. Don't bother doing ads for likes, you can Google about all the drama over fake likes. If you do a blog giveaway, make one of the ways to enter, liking your FB page.

@erinpye: so when I post a status update, there's an option to "boost" the post. Is that what you're referring to?

@regberadaisy: yes! If you want all of your fans to see it (and a few others) you have to boost it, otherwise only a percentage of your fans will see your post.
