@mrskansas: I'd wait for a few days. You want that frer as pink and beautiful as possible
@Tionn3: I'm sorry. There's no words other than this sucks.
nectarine / 2813 posts
@knittylady: yeah I didn't wait, lol. I should have. There is a line, but unless you've seen a lot of these it isn't noticeable. So I'll wait and take another one maybe tomorrow or Monday!

I guess this could be normal for 9 DPO and hopefully it keeps getting darker. So hard to see in person
nectarine / 2813 posts
@Synchronicity: did your line get darker as it dried or lighter? I feel like mine was more visible in the first five minutes and then faded a bit.
grapefruit / 4089 posts
@mrskansas: hey I was just coming here to check in on you! Mine got a bit darker I think but not much. I think the shadow over the stick is throwing me off on your picture, are you able to take another?
nectarine / 2813 posts
@Synchronicity: this is one I took with no shadow but I can't really see anything
nectarine / 2813 posts
I am probably just losing my mind. I'm definitely not trusting any of these until it's a clear positive that I can actually take a picture of!
grapefruit / 4089 posts
@mrskansas: Hmm I don't think I see anything either. How many DPO are you? Did you try a wondfo today?
My lines from yesterday seem so light now that I compare them to today (and my lines today are still light!). It might just be too early for you!
nectarine / 2813 posts
@Synchronicity: I'm only 9 DPO today so super early. I'll try a Wondfo this afternoon.
Where do you buy the old style FRERs?! That's what I want instead of the curved ones.
grapefruit / 4089 posts
@mrskansas: I'm Canadian! I don't think I've even seen the new style here.
nectarine / 2813 posts
@Synchronicity: That explains it. I don't think you can buy the flat ones in the US anymore.
But your tests definitely got darker
grapefruit / 4089 posts
@mrskansas: They did! It's more obvious in person than on a screen but progress is progress. I should stock up on FRERs and start selling them to Americans black market style
nectarine / 2813 posts
@Synchronicity: There is definitely a market for them here! Haha.
Do you think it would be worth taking a FRER with SMU?
grapefruit / 4089 posts
@mrskansas: Yesterday I used a wondfo with FMU and immediately flushed my pee (dumb) because I did NOT expect anything to show up. The FRER I took yesterday was with SMU after a maaaaybe 3 hour hold, only drinking my coffee. It worked out ok! But seriously, if it is going to stress you out too much maybe wait until tomorrow, as hard as that is? I don't think a BFP at 9dpo is overly common and I only bothered testing at all because of my temps. Otherwise I was going to wait until 11 or 12dpo!
nectarine / 2813 posts
@Synchronicity: Yeah I didn't have a hint of a line with my daughter at 9 DPO so I'm not too worked up over it.
I'll go pick up a 3 pack of FRERs this morning and see what happens, but I will try to not use one until tomorrow!
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@mrskansas: I think it looks promising but I'd wait! By 10-11 dpo I'd think you'd have a clearly visible line. Ive had 6 bfps and never tested positive on 9dpo so anything showing is early!

@mrskansas: I am very hopeful for you @Synchronicity: those lines look great, mama!
clementine / 874 posts
@mrskansas: Fingers crossed for you! I wanted to recommend the dollar store tests. They use red dye like a frer and I got a clear positive on them before a FRER. Hands down my favorite hpt.

@madisonbee: Have you ever used digital opks? They are my absolute favorite although a bit pricy (35 bucks for 20) but I used them to get pregnant twice and gave the rest to a friend (and she got pregnant, too.) I felt like they took the frustration out of figuring if the line was darker etc because they either show you the smile face or an empty O. I would take regular opks and once I thought it could be positive, I used the digital opks (this is how I went through so few.) I am going to start TTC again in a couple months and I am going to do the exact same thing to avoid the stress. I added a pic of the tests. If you decide to get them DO NOT buy the advanced, just the regular ones. The advanced suck and can't be used from cycle to cycle.

@Coral: Thanks for the tip! I was considering buying them for the next cycle, then decided to not use OPKs. I'm sure my mind will change again, but I do agree that this would definitely help me set my O date straight. Good luck with TTC soon!
Update: my bleeding has lessened a lot, nothing on the pad I wore from 6pm to 8am this morning (sorry, TMI....and kinda gross). I'm not gonna count this week as AF, unless it comes full force. I'm going on vacation next weekend, so I'll take a test then so I know if I should drink or not. Because if it's a BFN, I'm gonna be drinking tons!

@mrskansas: Good luck with testing this weekend! I'm very hopeful...there was no doubt a line on that HCG strip yesterday.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@jhd: I was skimming through hoping for a positive update from you (wow, this thread moves fast!), and am so sorry to hear about AF. Hugs And I know what you mean about it just getting harder. I really hope being able to POAS twice in February is the luck that you need! Do you feel like you learned anything useful from trying OPKs that you will be able to use in the future?
I'm also sorry to see that there are quite a few of us here with worries about not being able to have a child, or not being able to have the family we'd hoped for, or worried about the potentially prohibitive costs of fertility treatments or adoption. My biggest self-care thing lately has been trying to let go of fears like this, as I know they make me unhappy, but it's such a hard process, I feel better and then they creep back up. I've also realized that bundled in with my fear of not being a mom is fear that more generally I won't be able to live the life I hoped for. The world seems so crazy lately, I don't think TTC helps the fears some of us have about what's going to happen more generally. I also realized that loss is hard in part because it reminds you of what you've lost in the past, and brings to the surface fears about who you might lose in the future. I'm so hoping that everyone on this thread will be holding their new LO soon, or will otherwise find peace with the process.

@Synchronicity: Yay, beautiful line!
Speaking of not being able to get tests in the U.S. they recently discontinued the clear blue with weeks estimator, something about a lawsuit from the company that makes FRER. I bought a few from ebay because I did find them reassuring, and they seemed to be running out on ebay as well.
@madisonbee: I've had issues with spotting during the luteal phase. I tried a combination of B vitamin, acupuncture, and stress management, as I've heard that it can make it more difficult to conceive. I think the latter is probably the most useful, as the months I spotted were ones where I was more stressed about stuff.

@periwinklebee: Hmm, interesting. Now that I think about it, DH and I weren't getting along well this past week and work has been more annoying than usual. I'll try to up my exercise regimen and "woo-sa" my way through the next cycle. My BFF is getting married so that's something I've been excited and happy for!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@madisonbee: I hope there's not a next month but if so it may be worth experimenting to see if anything helps to reduce the spotting. Our bodies can be such frustrating and mysterious things...
coconut / 8079 posts
@periwinklebee: thanks, lady. the OPKs did help and I will do them again this cycle. If every cycle was pretty similar to this one we have had good timing the past few months just no luck. My OB said to try a couple more cycles and then come back and see her if we don't get a positive. So I have that in the back of my mind. At least this way I will have additional info for her if it gets to that point.
And thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on TTC and loss. I will work on letting go of those fears too.

@jhd: I'm really glad you got some useful information and were able to work out a plan with your doctor just in case. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Wow this is busy for a Saturday. I'm enjoying getting a pedicure with my mom as part of my TWW. This and a fancy Valentine's meal next Saturday are my big distractions. I like having something else to focus on.

@snarkybiochemist: good for you! It's so important to have things to look forward to.

@jhd: I'm trying and I'm trying to keep busy with reading and crafting and other things to occupy myself as well

@snarkybiochemist: that sounds amazing! It's great you have other things to do to distract you

@snarkybiochemist: what kinds of crafts do you like? baking is my favorite although it's not good for my waistline! currently planning a Rubik's cube cake for DH's birthday.
nectarine / 2180 posts
@madisonbee: I'm trying
@jhd: I crochet and do counted cross stitch most regularly I also see. I love to bake but as you said not good for me. When I really need to do something I make bread by hand, all the kneading is good stress relief

My sister who knows that we are having a hard time just told me to relax, citing the fact that she was told it could take her a year and it took her 2 months as proof. GAH
