@sandy: I hear ya! I actually think if we got preggs now, my due date could be the same as LO1!! Which would be crazy! Anyway, I think we missed our window, we've been busy and sick and tired so I think I'm out before I began this time around! Good luck to you and everyone this coming month!

@ChiCalGoBee: I wasn't planning to; we were just going to go with the flow and maybe start TTC around end of March/April. But the more I read the more I realized it's good for me to chart! But the down side is that I've become obsessed so early

@hellocupcake: I could never keep a secret for that long, I literally spilled to the first person I saw after getting my BFP, haha! Which is why DH said this time I have to test when he's at home.
@hellobeeboston: My brother and I are a year and a week apart! It was not planned that way and my mom did worry about it...but it all turned out fine! Well, there were a few years I threw a fit over not wanting to share a party with him because I wanted all of the attention. But I got over it, haha!
@ChiCalGoBee: I hope that happens! Fingers crossed! My period isn't actually due until Wednesday so I know it may not show up as a BFP that early...but I'm a POAS addict. And I gave my DH a onesie when I found out we were pregnant with our first also. I thought about getting our son a big brother shirt for this time, but it just seems like a jinx - I don't want to order a shirt in his current 12 month size and then not get pregnant until he's outgrown it!
@Lady Hibiscus: This has been my first cycle temping, and so far its been very useful, I hope it works for both of us!
cherry / 108 posts
@Wonderstruck- I don't know why I didn't do this temping thing before- I am on. Day 34 of what seems like the longest cycle ever-- and this morning I finally got a steep temperature drop. So comforting- otherwise I would probably be peeing on anything that would change color
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Lady Hibiscus: It's so crazy to see my name as potential "mama to be"! Makes me tear up a little! Fx for everyone
Funny story this morning... My temp today suddenly went up .3 something... But I think it was b/c I was having a steamy dream
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@Lady Hibiscus: Yeah, I feel the same way. I'd been using digital OPKs but of course the month we took a break from them (December) I had an insanely long cycle where I thought I was pregnant but was just getting a ton of BFNs and didn't know what the heck was going on! So it's nice to have something that gives me more of an idea of where I'm at cycle-wise.

Hey ladies! It's looking like AF is currently here for the first time post crazy-weird-miserable-long miscarriage process (which started in October), and if it's really her I'll be POAS in early March. BUT - I'm here to cheer you on! Hoping that February brings lots and lots of BFPs...and lots of happy, Fall babies!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@mfa_lady: That's great! Now you can start new! I def want to have a fall and not winter baby!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@snowjewelz: New year, new cycles, new POAS! I really hope 2014 is going to be it! (For my sake as well as my midwife's, who has been kindly dealing with me since August of last year and is probably as ready for some good news as my husband and I are!)
And as for Fall babies...YES! My mom, dad, and brother all have October birthdays and mine is in early November. So I'm a little bit partial, but this seems like an excellent time of year to get pregnant!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@mfa_lady: Both me, my sister & my dad are November babies! I know soooo many people with late Oct & Nov birthdays. I guess a lot of parents decide to TTC in a new year and get BFP in Feb so this could be our month!!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@snowjewelz: I hope so! I think with an early March BFP I could sneak into November, right? Fingers crossed that you get a late Valentine's Day present!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@mfa_lady: For now I'm just hoping I can pinpoint O, since it's my first month charting!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@snowjewelz: You're a braver lady than me! I still don't chart because I know myself well enough to know I will get totally obsessed with it. We'll see how long I can go without jumping on the bandwagon!

Hey ladies- one MrsMcD posted this link on one of the TTC boards (Thanks!!!!))) I learned quite a lot from it. I drink non-fat milk once a day or so with oatmeal and cereal. Has anyone made the switch to whole milk while ttc? I am toying with it.
persimmon / 1167 posts
@Lady Hibiscus: I actually went _hardcore_ and now drink raw whole milk. In Colorado, I have to own part of a cow in order to get it. LOL. I pick up my milk once a week from the rancher. This is my rancher with one of her cows and how I buy my milk:

@mfa_lady: I lasted a whole month without charting. LOL. And now I'm even tracking salvia ferning. Women are so fascinating with all of our changes. It's amazing.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@HolisticMama: But how do you not let it take over your entire life?! Are you temping, too?
persimmon / 1167 posts
@mfa_lady: I am going to start temping this month, But as you may have noticed- I'm also on here practically all day. It does kind of take over my entire life. LOL. But I'm fascinated by it. At one point I thought I wanted to be a doula. I now find conception to be equally as exciting and interesting.
I don't think it needs to take over your life though. Temping takes practically a minute. You can check CM and cervical position after going to the bathroom in the morning. Thole whole process probably take just as long as brushing and flossing.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@HolisticMama: Yeah, I hear you. I guess by "taking over my life" slash "becoming obsessed with it," I mean I will stress myself out over it. And with all the stuff I hear about how stress affects fertility...I'm going to try to give it at least a couple more months before I go there.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@Lady Hibiscus: I switched to full-fat dairy products when I was TTC and switched to 2% milk. I drink a lot of milk, so I couldn't justify drinking full-fat. I kept that up while I was pregnant per my MW's advice (something about different hormone content in non-fat milk). Our refrigerator looks like the dairy aisle these days... skim milk for DH's cereal, 2% milk for me, whole milk for coffee and DD, and 1/2 and 1/2 because my mom was just in town and that's how she takes her coffee.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@mfa_lady: You are right; physically charting does not take much time. I also think if I wasn't on HB I might not be obsessing as much because I wouldn't know what other people are doing/thinking!

@Lady Hibiscus: So glad they changed the thread name! This is far less confusing, I think. You're doing a great job and thank you for being hostess!

@mfa_lady: Aw. Yes. You will have to find out what stressed you out more. If charting stresses me out (ala...temps are all wonky, nothing makes sense)- then I will just go back to my zen approach. Right now I have been just looking at it from a big fat science experiment perspective.
cherry / 108 posts
Aww thanks you guys are too sweet-- I love this board makes me realize I am not the only one going through this.
Wow- @holisticmama and mfa_lady- I'm starting to rethink my no-fat diet. I'm going to look into raw milk. That looks delicious. I worry that I will like it too much and it'll swing the pendulum in the other direction.
persimmon / 1167 posts
@Lady Hibiscus: You can get absolutely lost in the research of proper diets for conception and pregnancy. It is so fascinating. This is one I have looked at:
http://www.westonaprice.org/childrens-health/vitamins-for-fetal-development-conception-to-birth
I don't think I can do ALL the fat, but I do my best.
Fat actually regulates sex hormones, so it's really important to do your research on.
We really only have 3 macronutrients- so it seems a bit odd to cut out one of them. I learned the hard way, I think. I have been cutting carbs for years- and now my body temperature is really low (like...96s...97s). I've been doing my research on how to raise my body temperature. Guess what I need to eat? Complex carbs. Arg.
