I hope it is okay for me to use this board. DS is not technically a preemie since he was born a few hours past 37 weeks. He had a low percentile birth weight (6 pounds) due to suspected placenta problems but nothing too severe. In the hospital, he dropped weight rapidly, losing about 11.5%. We immediately began supplementing with formula, and once my milk came in, supplemented with pumped breast milk. Never letting him go more than 3 hours without feeding during the day, we got him back up to his birth weight within a week. We still don't let him go longer than 3 hours during the day (he usually eats every 2.5) but let him sleep 4 hours at night. He is now 2.5 weeks old and a pound over his birth weight. So he is doing really well.

My question is when to stop waking him up to feed every 3 hours during the day and 4 hours at night. I know a lot of people do this once birth weight is regained, but we just feel like he needs more time to catch up since he was a borderline preemie. Then again, I just hate waking him up all the time since he also needs his rest. Any advice would be much appreciated!
