Here's a fun read. I don't know that I agree with all the choices though...
I love, Beatrice, Agatha, and Eleanor!

I think a lot of these super old-fashioned names are actually really trendy right now. Rose and Eleanor going extinct? Are they kidding? Josephine will be our next DDs middle name.
I have to say I dont agree.

I don't think the author had checked the charts in a while, but fun nonetheless!

DS would have been named Eleanor if he was a girl. We would have called her Ella.

@rattles: Exactly what I was thinking! I mean, do a little homework!
Anyway I think Agatha is to die for. If my husband hadn't totally vetoed it I'd have a little Agatha running around my house right now.

I think most of the list is correct but not all! My niece is named Josephine, and so it Mrs. Wagon's daughter! I think it's still fairly common. I also think they are pretty off-base with Eleanor.

@mamimami: same.....my fave author of all time is Agatha Christie...so it would have been a nod to her!

Fun read, but off the mark for at least 50% of the names. I didn't think the commentary was great either - I don't think of the word agony when I think of Agatha at all.
I thought Dorothy would be on the list for sure.

I feel like the author doesn't know what she's talking about!
DD's middle name is Eleanor. We're pretty sure we're one and done, but DH and I already agreed that if we had another girl she'd likely be Beatrice.

Definetley off the mark, I'm always interested in lists though just to see what some people think!

totally off the mark, and totally missing some puns on the obvious ones.
Like,
Gladys has left on a midnight train to Georgia.
OBVIOUSLY!

Beatrice, Rose, Josephine, Eleanor . . .Are they kidding?? I also love Ilene, but it could be because it's alllmost my middle name.

OK, this is a ridiculous list.
Blanche, Ethel, Josephine, Eleanor, Opal, and Beatrix/ce are ALL AWESOME NAMES that are increasing in popularity, not declining.
I agree with Barbara, Phyllis,Gladys, Ilene, and Marge, but that's about it.
I LOVE the names Ethel, Opal, and Beatrix.

Well I can say, most of those names aren't being used in the south for sure.

Beatrice is such a pretty name... Unfortunately DH hates it.
For some reason I thought Eleanor was really popular still?

It was taking too long to load and click through all the names but I definitely disagree as others have commented! One of LO's friends is Josephine and Eleanor was on our list of girls names! I also feel like Rose is a pretty popular middle name.
