Does your LO get a low fever (100-101) when teeth are coming through?
E ran a low grade fever on and off this weekend but was in a good mood. Also slept a lot Saturday. I chalked it up to a teething fever and expected to see some nubs, but nothing is there. Daycare says she may be sick (and therefore contagious).
She only has 2 teeth so I don't know what to expect

Last time LO had a low-grade fever (around 101) I thought it was teething but it ended up being a double ear infection. She was acting normal so I didn't consider an ear infection. She had been congested for awhile leading up to it, though.

C had got a low fever a few times while teething. We got her checked the last time, but they couldn't find anything else wrong with her.

We thought she was teething last week, but it ended up being an ear infection/cold. Like @lawbee11: LO wasn't showing any signs of the ear infection, but was congested with a runny nose.

Huh i hadn't considered an ear infection. Last time she had one, it was OBVIOUS she had them. Screamed when laying down, would claw at her ears randomly, etc. She's been on and off congested, though. Crap.

I think she got a fever like once from teething.
I agree with PP, might be an ear infection.

@blackbird: Or it could just be a cold. After starting the antibiotics for the ear infection, she was sent home with a fever from daycare. We took her in to see the ped, and she said the ear infection was gone, but there must be something viral going on — so maybe it's just a cold?

@blackbird: The first time she had an ear infection she had a 103.5 fever and was miserable, which is why I hadn't considered an ear infection this past time. She woke up last weekend with some yellow gunk around one of her eyes so I actually brought her in because I thought it was conjunctivitis. But turned out to be a double ear infection. I felt so bad because who knows how long she'd had it.
ETA: I wish they made at-home kits to tell if they have an ear infection! Sucks that the only option is taking them in to get their ears checked.

@lawbee, it seriously makes me consider learning how to look in her ears properly.

@lawbee11: @blackbird: I *never* know when C has an ear infection, and it makes me feel terrible! I seriously might pick up an otoscope next time I go to the medical supply.

@grizz, i bet someone you work with can show you what to look for, too! Half the battle is getting a peek to see if they're inflamed or red

It could be an ear infection, but my sister made an interesting point this weekend. Her pediatrician told her that babies tend to get low-grade fevers when teething because they're putting everything in sight into their mouths, which means they're more likely to pick up every little bug around and their temp goes up because their little bodies are fighting off all these random tiny little infections and viruses. Makes sense.

So the dr said it was a fever virus. Just a fever. So ahes gotta stay home tomorrow with DH. She also said don't be surprised if she gets a rash
