I don't FF, but my pediatrician said we could use tap water for it! We live in a city and she is familiar with our water though, so it probably depends on where you live and stuff. I suspect you're fine using tap though!

So which is it, flouride is okay or not? I admit I am confused!

Our whole family drink Sparkletts water and that's what I used.

@Smurfette: I have never heard of nursery water! We used filtered water when she was little and then started using tap. Using tap was important to me once she got teeth, too.

@looch: Glad that it isn't me. I feel like both seem to be what people do.

@Smurfette: I used gerber water because the nursery water has added flouride which I didnt want

@Mrsbells: We actually have the Gerber, which says no added fluoride. But now I wonder if she needs it.

@Adira: I just called the phone advice nurse and she said the tap water is fine from the city.

@Smurfette: You can get nursery water that has no added Fluoride. That's what we used for Anna until we switched to the Ready to Feed formula.
It's not all Fluoride infused. And in all honesty, it's filtered water. Not a big enough deal to stress over.

@looch: Fluoride is good but like anything else in excess it can have negative effects - so while at lower levels fluoride strengthens teeth if it's consumed in excess it can weaken both bones and teeth. One of the problems with babies is they consume basically all their calories through drinking so it's a lot easier to consume fluoride in excess if both formula is fluoridated (most is to a low level) and the water used to mix it is heavily fluoridated. A lot of dentists seem to know the current research on fluoride so I'd probably ask them to help get the right balance.
