well my ILs ordered our crib at 9 weeks because of a sale...this gave me serious anxiety, but it is what it is. we put it together around 14-15 weeks for the same reason as you're thinking - to make sure everything was intact and there!

we didn't paint until maybe 20ish weeks..I honestly don't remember. It was in May - and we wanted to get the paint up before it was too hot! Her room doesn't have an air conditioner so we wanted the paint to dry without it getting super humid.

I've kind of put it together piece by piece since then!

We painted around 28 weeks, and set up the crib around 30 weeks (it had been purchased by our in laws around 24 weeks). Everything else happened slowly after that...and now, at 36 weeks, we still have to hang some things on the wall but that's about it!

We ordered the crib and changing table super early since it was a great Black Friday deal - I was only about 11 weeks along. We set them up a couple weeks later to make sure nothing was wrong with them, but didn't start buying other stuff until our gender ultrasound at week 20.

Not early enough. We had just barely cleaned out the room and bought curtains the day before he was born 6 weeks early. I kept putting it off and putting off thinking I had time. When my sister got pregnant after me, I told her to do as much as she could in the second trimester bc you just don't know what will happen in the third tri and you won't know how you will feel by then either. He really didn't get a good nursery until we moved when he was 4.5 months old.

I kind of started toward the end of the second tri/early third tri. My shower wasn't until I was 35 weeks because of the holiday and that made it REALLY hard and painful. I didn't finish it because I was too big and uncomfortable to do anything. So I would suggest getting it all done as early as possible so you can spend those last few weeks just resting, not stressing!!

We (meaning DH) is cleaning out the room this weekend at 24. We have ideas, but nothing purchased or done. With this whole preterm scare, we'll probably wait another month or so to really get stuff in there (even if we're a little late).

There wasn't like a specific day. I knew I wanted to do a specific theme so I started randomly collecting little decor items and family members started giving us things they had that might work for the room. My in laws surprised me by buying and assembling our crib when I was 25 weeks. We slowly kept picking up furniture items and whatnot as we went along. Now, at 31 weeks, it is still being worked on but nearly finished.

@shopaholic - We kept our room the same color from when we originally moved in (it's a light vibrant green so it worked for either gender), so we didn't paint again luckily!!! But I would say if you moved the crib towards the middle of the room and covered with a sheet or plastic tarp, you should be fine.

LOL!!! We started it when LO was 4 weeks old. We built the crib when I was 28 weeks pregnant and then did nothing but put a sheet on the mattress until we moved LO out of our room.
At 4w pp I also rearranged things and put his clothes in organized drawers. When he was 8 weeks old I started putting up photos/wall art, and "decorating."

We started slowly setting up right after my first trimester (assembled crib, put together changing table) but got the bulk of it done during the 7th-8th month.

This post makes me feel better - I was thinking I was behind the game because I haven't even started cleaning out the room yet, but I'm only 17 weeks, so there's still time!

I'm a big planner and love to decorate, so I started coming up with ideas around the beginning of the second trimester and once we found out the gender at 16 weeks, finalized everything within the next couple of weeks.

I'm 21 weeks now and we ordered our glider 2 weeks ago and I started buying most of the decorative stuff off Etsy. We have painters at our house as we speak painting all the rooms, including the nursery. I'm going to IKEA next weekend to buy the crib and bookcases and some other random stuff and then we just have to order the dresser, and put everything together!

But I'm kind of an overachiever.

@shopaholic: Yes, after LO arrived. I was pretty paranoid to jinx his health before he was born.

We cleaned it out in the first trimester (it was an office and our storage/junk room) but we didn't convert to a nursery until after we found out gender at 20 weeks. It was a slow and steady process for us, just finishing it around 36 weeks!
