holy. cow. i refused to give in to the hype on this book, but some friends begged me to read it so we would all be able to talk about it together. i can't believe i didn't get carded to buy it! of course it is horrible...but i just can't put it down either! ::embarrassed::

I enjoyed all 3 books. I really liked how the third book ended. I didn't think it was that bad. I'm not going to compare it to Shakespeare but I do think it's better than some of the crappy romance books I've read. It definitely a fantasy romance novel and for that I enjoyed it. I live in Seattle so reading this book made me see Seattle in a different light. I can't wait for the movie.
Oh, btw, I refuse to read the twilight books.

I read all three and enjoyed it like @bluestripedbee - it's the cheesy love and how she changes him that I really liked. The ending to book three was a food ending for the book. I'm wondering who they will cast as Christian Grey!

I haven't read it yet. I might would if I didn't have to pay for it. All the reviews I've read say the relationship is abusive and the heroine annoying.

It's literally twilight with sex scenes. And not particularly great ones either...I did read them but by the 3rd one I was so sick of hearing about her "inner goddess" I could scream. Lady, you're getting tons of sex. We get it.

Some of my girlfriends at work have read it and liked it, and I made the mistake of bringing it up around my MIL yesterday. After hearing how hot she thought it was and that she was reading it to my FIL in bed well...there was no way in hell I could read it and not want to die, haha.

I am just reading it for fun...and, I will say it is weird and entertaining. There are so many parts where I am just cracking up because the main character is such an awkward goofball.
I have read all the Twilight books and Hunger Games...I didn't mind them at all, but I read them because I always read books my middle school kids are reading. Fifty Shades is definitely on a different level, and IMO it's kind of like comparing apples to oranges.

@dagret: Yeah I had no idea what to say when she offered to loan it to me when she was "done with it". I'm close to my MIL and I love her dearly, but I'm not really interested in joining her and her horny friends in a semi-pornographic book club. Whatever the "Contract" is, apparently was too much for her...my husband was mortified by this whole conversation.

No plans to read it. I hate the Twilight story and once I heard the characters are similar/based on each other I officially wrote it off forever. The story line doesnt interest me and I never read smutty books or watch tons of romance movies anyway,

Can't get on board to read something by an author who was inspired to become a writer by the crap that is Twilight. I also am just not a fan of gratuitous raunchy sex so I think this trilogy is just not for me.

I had no idea it was based off the Twilight characters!
I haven't read it.... too afraid/embarrassed to buy it... and I feel like I would have to hide it because I would be afraid of my mom finding out I read it. LOL!!!
However, my husband has heard of it and keeps telling me to get it so I can read it out loud to him in bed.

@Mrsdaredevil: yeah, my sister gave me a electronic version for my kindle. I don't think I could read the actual book in public. There were times I was reading my kindle and was shielding the words so no one could glance over at my kindle. Lol

I'm about halfway through it...I didn't realize it was based off of Twilight but that makes SO much sense. The repetition in it drives me nuts. Like a PP said, the whole 'inner goddess' jumping up and down all the time and I would love to count how many times the author writes "holy sh*t/holy crap/holy f*ck"...basically in every other paragraph! That being said, I'm still going to finish at least the first book because it has been entertaining.

I read all three. Quick read, sucks you in if you're into smutty romance novels. It's not as ridiculous as Twilight, though it comes pretty close. Like ppl have said, it's horrible writing, but a quick read to keep you busy for a week.

It is out of control steamy! I literally can't believe I'm reading this book...not into stuff like this at all, but it just has lame entertainment value, so it is definitely good if you have time to kill! I started the first book yesterday and I'm almost done with it.

I read the first 2 but had to stop at the 3rd. It wasn't the content that turned me off, it was the writing and the errors in the book. A book that had that has that many grammatical errors should not have been published, I don't know how it was approved by editors! And the main characters inner dialog drove me nuts, quit talking about your inner goddess every 5 pages...drove me bonkers!

I read and enjoyed them. I didn't find them to be as "dirty" as everyone said they were. By book 3 I was so sick of listening to her whine and worry I was getting over it but I did finish them.
I read Bared to You: A Crossfire Novel by Sylvia Day after and LOVED it. Still kinda racey but not as annoying.

@jessiej017 that is one of the things that kills me about htis book!! i saw the word "sandals" written "sandles" today. really?? i saw somewhere a fifty shades drinking game things-the inner goddess dialogue kills me!!!

@lydg: There were so many errors! The instead of This, bright instead of light...such typos that get through spell check that should never get through an editor!
And yes the inner dialog was too much for me to handle. I knew I had to stop reading when I would convince myself to do ANYTHING else but read, this is not like me at all! I usually love to read and have to force myself to stop.

@lydg: Was this in a real book or were you reading a e-book? I've noticed that there are a lot of typos when they made the book an ebook.
