I thought this was an interesting read! It describes the government program in Finland that gives a box full of baby items to every baby who is born (you recieve it before baby is born). I would love to see a picture of all the items included!

This story was awesome! DH is 1/2 Finnish - if only we had LO there, we could have scored this amazing box with cute clothing and cloth diapers. A cousin of his who lives near Helsinki had a baby not too long ago. I should ask them about their box!

Such a great story. Wy is the US so behind? The government should mandate that one parent stay home with a baby for at least the first 3 months. A cardboard box with essentials is a great idea too!

I love the bit about babies being born in the same year being identifiable by the fact that they have the same clothes from their boxes. Something about that strikes me as so sweet!

That's quite a care package they are giving away. And they've been doing it for 75 years. More than just clothing for the baby, they have quite a few accessories as well. And nothing goes to waste. Even the box serves several purposes. I read somewhere that using a box as a crib is safer than leaving a baby on a bed. I think I now have use for some of the extra papermart boxes I have.

A friend if mine is married to a Finn and they just got their baby box a few weeks ago and they really are going to have the newborn sleep in the box! Another friend of mine gave me the snowsuit and a few other items from her Finnish box and it is really lovely and a great quality.
