I have to share this!!

Our baby is 12 weeks old and we've recently found the most amazing sleep method - I hesitate to call it training because it's not. Our little boy was addicted to the fit ball and it was the only way to put him to sleep. We tried to get him off it with the 'sleep sense' method and I also read the baby whisperer but decided it was a bit too complicated for us.

Then I came across what I can only describe as a happy and positive way to put baby to sleep. I read about it while bouncing him on the ball and desperately searching online for something that could help us!

I've put the link below but basically we put baby in his bed and smile at him and tell him what a good boy he is and that he's going to have a great sleep. Then walk out, he starts crying and then as soon as he takes a breath - usually within 30 seconds, one of us goes back in and tells him how amazing he is and what a good boy he is going to sleep. Then you say 'I'll be back in a minute' and leave the room. Repeat this process until baby is asleep!

It's important to keep the process upbeat with a positive voice, no whispering or creeping around! They seem to pick up on any anxiety, and the idea is to demonstrate to baby that going to sleep is a happy thing and not something to stress about.

I know it sounds completely unlikely that it would work but it really does!!!!! This was a baby who was addicted to the ball t the point where we even had to take it to my mum's house for dinner. This was a baby who took on average 1 hour to put to sleep each night and would start screaming as soon as he went near his bed. He also wouldn't nap in the day - yep it works for naps too!

Now he's asleep within 5 minutes of putting him down - not kidding. Often less time, the fastest he's nodded off now has been two minutes. He also sleeps for much longer stretches now as well, and if he wakes up and cries out he will often put himself back to sleep before we can even get to him. The best bit is that it's so enjoyable and positive to praise him and tell him how great he is that we actually love putting him to bed now.

I really urge anyone who's having trouble putting their bub to sleep to give this a go. When I first read about it I got off the ball, put him in bed and haven't looked back!!

Let me know if you have any questions about how we did it, and I would love to hear how it goes if you try it

I don't know why they mention 'baby whisperer' because it has nothing to do with the baby whisperer method lol

And here is a pic of him happily snoozing hehe
