We did a brunch for DS' birthday and kept it really low key for us parents' sake. I found this menu to be really stress-free, and everything was eaten.

- bagels, lox, cream cheese (self-serve, self-toast)
- croissants that we warmed up in the oven with spreads (jams, nutella - self-serve)
- spanish tortilla
- braised pork shoulder (momofuku style) in place of bacon
- fruit platter, berry platter

We had about 30 people (about 12 or so kids) and i felt that it was enough food. We did mini cupcakes from a local bakery, which i find is always a hit.

I normally would do a lot more (egg strata, baked french toast, cinnamon rolls, etc.) but DH was adamant that i not go crazy.

@sorrycharlie: haha we have a place that does "Texas" Donut cakes too. Because everything is bigger in Texas!

What about donut holes? It's a brunchy food and goes with the donut cake idea.

I like making mini quiche in muffin form. You can easily bake it the day before and just warm up morning of.

For the hot chocolate: Mini marshmallows, some "cigar" cookies as a stir stick, whipped cream

we did brunch for DD's last party--I made a couple of french toast casseroles (put everything together the night before and bake before party time), got some quiche and pastries from costco, cut up fruit, etc.

We had a lot of family over for Christmas brunch and costco's frozen quiche were actually a big hit. They come in a huge pack (I think 70).

Fruit salad and breakfast casseroles are always good!

For the hot chocolate bar, I'm sure you can get away with just a couple of toppings...toffee chips, mini chocolate chips, caramel syrup, marshmallows, whipped cream, sprinkles, sea salt, peppermint sticks, Oreo crumbs.
