Our LO is going to be a year old in November (um, how did that happen?!) and we are trying to plan a party. Unfortunately, our home is way too small to include anyone other than our parents and siblings, so it looks like we will rent out a community room in a family member's neighborhood.

To keep costs down since the rental is a lot, we are thinking about having a dessert party, but the more I think about this, the more I wonder if this is appropriate/acceptable. I am thinking that 1:00pm is the best time given LO's nap schedule (usually goes down around 3:00ish) but am concerned that people will be upset that there's no real food. I would state specificially on the invitation that dessert will be served, but do I need to push the party later to make this work?

Also, would you think it was weird to be invited to a dessert party?
