Religious bees - does anybody have any great ideas for a first communion gift for an 8 year old boy? Etsy has some nice carved wooden boxes but I'm kind of at a loss. Ideally it would be something the little guy could play with and use rather than something like a picture frame or decor type item. Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure I'm getting my niece a nativity scene for her first communion. She already has a cross, bible...and my aunt got her a veil already. I just have to get on getting one!

Is it a relative or a friend? Depending on the relationship we give anything to a nice gold necklace and crucifix or just plain cash is always a winner.

I might get the illustrated version of The Hobbit or Narnia unless you know he doesn't have a rosary already. If you're not a godparent, I feel like a nice Nativity is going to be too much.

I think there is some expectation for godparents to bring a (small, religious) gift. But I'd be sort of embarrassed if general guests brought my son money.
