oh wow!! i am hoping to start femara soon, i've opted not to use clomid because unlike you, the thought of multiples overwhelms me, and i thought chances of multiples on femara were very low. sounds like with that many mature follicles you have a good chance of conceiving this month!!! so excited for you! may i ask what your femara dose was & how many days you took it? good luck!

@mrs. bird: @bluestripedbee: I am pretty sure my IUI was with femara (I think - it was randomized, but my side effects were so different than when I was on clomid!) and ended up with only one. (33.5 wks pg now)

I'm pretty sure I had two mature follie's this cycle, but still waiting to find out if it worked!! Other than the prenancy complications, I would be sooo excited to have multiples so I'm totally with you on that!!

i had 2-3 mature follicles for my last IUI and was excited at the prospect of having twins...but it didn't take and i'm not pregnant. it is normal to have more than one mature follicle if you're taking the medication. that's what the medication is trying to do. either make you produce a mature follicle, or if you already produce, to make you produce more for more chances.

I just did my second IUI with Femara. I only had one mature follicle, but am happy with that. I don't know if I could handle twins!

i did 2 rounds of clomid, the second time with an iui and it stuck. i only had one follicle both times, but my friend had 2-3. most likely it won't be twins, but another friend (not the one mentioned previously) did have twins thru a clomid + iui!

I had 4-5 mature follicles before my IUI and I ended up with multiples...I think 2-3 is perfect though, def a lower chance of twins or triplets but a higher chance of at least one!!! Best of luck, will be routing for you!!

Fingers crossed for you! I decided to try a cycle of IUI with injectibles next month before the IVF!

@Bluestriped Bee Thank you!! Due sometime in June, since it is twins my OB will not let me get past 38 weeks, which I believe is June 10.
Also, just wanted to say, don't be too discouraged if this cycle is not successful, it doesn't mean that a future one won't be (I know women who have done the exact same protocol 2 or 3 times before it actually worked). It's great that your body produced these eggs, that's probably the most important part of the whole process. I am really hopeful for you this cycle but just wanted to add that, as a disclaimer...

@Bluestriped Bee I'm doing well, thanks! I didn't mean to be a downer, I guess after hearing so many stories of IUI, I think the most exciting part of this all is that you produced several good follicles, that is awesome! Whether it works this time or another time, I feel confident it will work! But I think you should still be excited, it is very super-exciting and now you have a 'better than normal' chance of conceiving (think it's like, 25% versus 20% or something like that)...Are you now in the TWW?
