Where was your first long trip with LO?
In August, DH and I are planning on driving to LA to see friends/family. It's going to be 7 hours in the car. Oh boy!

We took a three week trip when she was 4 months old from DC to Alabama. We flew that time, but we've driven that trip with her too.

If you can, leave in the evening. We drove 6.5 hours with LO. I fed her at six, we got in the car, she cooed for 30 minutes and then slept the rest of the way!

Driving through the night is totally the way to go.

I drove 5 hours alone with LO when he was about 4 months old and turned around the next day and drove another 4 hours! I felt like a bad ass. I think it would be a lot harder now that he doesn't sleep all the time. I think I'm going to do a 5 hour drive again with him in july and then a 3 hour trip as well.

We drove from one side of New York State to the other, seven to eight hour drive, when DD was just barely 3 months old. It was HORRIBLE. But, she was a tough newborn.
I flew with DS from TX to NY, by myself when he was 2 and a half months old. That was much better

@MamaMoose: We are figuring on going after work on a Thursday, probably hitting the road around 7 or so. It would mean getting in around 1 or 2 a.m. but would give us the most time visiting. We have to come Sunday, so want to visit as much as possible.
