@simplicityfelicity: Yes, as @snowjewelz said, BD as much as you can, starting around your 7th cycle day, if you don't test for ovulation and you should be good to go! If my DH and I had BD'd more in December when we were NTNP, it might have actually happened for us, we were just kind of lazy

@Kbee: Same here! NTNP for us was more like a guaranteed BFN. I guess I was hoping maybe the few times we did BD were at the right times, but they def weren't!

@simplyfelicity: Charting really takes a few months before you can interpret the data. Does your DH know that? Like, it tells you you've ovulated AFTER you ovulated.

For that reason, DH and I talked about NTNP after our MC. I still chart. And I even used OPKs this month because we had NO clue what was going on with my body.

But to justify that we were still NTNP and not full "trying," there was no "We have to have sex now because I'm about to ovulate" pressure. I wanted to know what's going on and that I'm getting back to normal, but sex wise, we still wanted it to just be because we wanted it...not because we HAD to.

If we get a BFP this month, nice. But if not, I definitely feel much better prepared for when he IS ready to TTC.

    Just something to think about

@simplyfelicity: welcome! DH and I were NTNP for a few months then we got impatient so that's when I started researching all about charting and OPK's etc. I feel a lot more confident about the whole TTC process now and it's cool to know your body so well- I agree though that it can also be overwhelming sometimes. Just have fun with it!

Thanks so much ladies. I'm 15 dpo. I just went and told everyone on the April board. I'm in shock. I really didn't think it was going to be positive but AF didn't arrive and that is very odd for me. Ive been waiting ALL day at work to test (it's 5.40pm here) and I literally ran home and POAS. It came back positive after 10 seconds!

@whenoceansrise: don't know when I'm due... Il go find out. Yeah the lines are dark right?! I literally could not have waited any longer to test. AF was due yesterday. I was kidding myself thinking I'd wait til Friday!

@snowjewelz: ahh that's crazy. I did the estimation based on the first day of last period. Not sure which is better, that or day I ovulated?

@MrsHansen82: That's exactly how DH is! He is really excited to have a baby, but he wants things to happen organically. I explained to him that I find it all fascinating, especially since I have never charted before at all. I will admit, however, that I was getting a little too into it. I know that because I actually feel a little relieved. DH is cool with lots of BD and FF but he wants it to be more chill. I am still hoping for an easy, breezy, natural BFP!

@theotherstark: Just as an encouragement, my sis took 6 months to get pregnant with her first and now she is almost always pregnant! She is currently PG with #4 and has been PG 7 times (she had three MC.) It has taken her a bit to get PG with #1 and 4 but with #3, she got PG her first time ovulating after #2...so she basically didn't have AF for two years because she was KU back to back.. She is incredibly fertile, it just takes time. I really have no place to talk because April is my first month TTC but my sis is a good example.

@MaryM: Wait...I am so confused now. I thought OPKs tested your LH levels before you ovulated.

    @snowjewelz: @Kbee: @whenoceansrise:
Thank you ladies. I love this place! I wish I had come over here earlier!

It's not that we aren't going to try or that we don't want to get PG. We are just going to try doing things the old fashioned way= lots of BD. I still have FF on my phone and I can't "un-know" my dates (though they are just the generic dates for a 30 day cycle which is what I am pretty sure mine is.) We are still going to try, but just not do the OPKs and try to not be on such a schedule. My husband has these romantic notions of the baby being an expression of our spontaneous love and not so "expected" in his terms. I don't entirely understand him, but I am on the fence about a Christmas baby, so I am willing to not go "guns blazing" this month.

I really appreciate all your support! I have done lots of research, so I understand EWCM,, ovulation, chemical pregnancies, luteal phases, LH surges, waiting 24 hours between ED etc...so I get how it works in a hypothetical sense and I will definitely be keeping these things in mind when we TTC this month...just tone it down a bit.

I really appreciate all of you!!!! I am wishing you sticky beans this month!

@simplyfelicity: Wow - I am always impressed by women who get pregnant so easily. I actually am currently pregnant, but still lurking in this thread since I loved being part of it We got our BFP this month, which was the third month of trying (I used OPKs each month, and we had great timing each month). It's totally a crapshoot as to how long it will take! Good luck; I hope you get your BFP on the first try

@simplyfelicity: So this is a perfect month to just see if nature will do it's thing! We pretty much have to go "gun blazing" if we want a BFP... Both our sex drives aren't that high (I blame mine for being on BC for so more than a decade!) so if it's up to us naturally our chances are super slim haha

@whenoceansrise: Awww! Your post just made my day!! I you guys too, so much! I could never stop lurking. I need to see you all get your BFPs!

@simplyfelicity: Ha, I'm sorry. I just meant I remember trying to tell myself that it was not likely I would get pregnant the first month we tried, but secretly I hoped against hope that we would be super lucky, and was really disappointed when it didn't happen :) We were still really lucky, though - 3 months is pretty quick! Thank you, though I think your laid-back approach will be good! At least you have a general sense of your cycles, and are planning on doing lots of BDing

Can I just say, y'all are the nicest group of ladies on the internet? I have been to a few sites and the ladies were either snarky or not very welcoming of newcomers. I am so happy to have found this place!

@theotherstark: Sorry for the TMI but DH and I didn't do the deed til we were married and my libido plummeted from BCP. Like once a week was more than enough for me. So, now that I am off BCP and feeling a bit more....uhhhh...frisky, it's going to be like our honeymoon all over again. So, most likely, BD-ing every day.

@simplyfelicity: It's a great site - I love it here And yes, it's definitely nice getting of BCP! I stopped taking it two years before we actually started trying, because I was tired of the negative effects on my body and I wanted to learn my cycles better. So glad I did!

  36. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

@snowjewelz: @whenoceansrise: Oh, wow, most forums get all judgey when I say that. Nothing against anyone who did DTD before getting married at all, it was just something important to us. We have only been married for 4 months and some change.. I was also on zoloft for my whole adult life for mild anxiety which also messes with your libido and just got off of it...so DH is pretty excited. haha.

@simplyfelicity: We chose to wait because we are both christians and it was important for us to be obedient to God. I don't have anything against anyone who DTD before marriage either. It was also just very important to us! Not to say it wasn't easy- it was so hard! We've been married for almost a year! May 10, 2013

Anyone thought of a way they would tell their DH or SO that they are PG?

My DH doesn't want a parade or anything, but he wants it to be a surprise and doesn't want to know when I POAS. We'll see how that changes depending on how long it takes us to get PG. I kind of have this idea of making a nice dinner ("just because") getting a cake and writing "thanks for getting me pregnant" or "are you ready to be a dad" or "I guess my eggs aren't dead" (New Girl reference) in frosting. I think something quirky/totally random would be awesome. It's going to be really hard to not run at him with a positive pee stick, but he said he wants to be surprised!

    What are you ladies thinking?
