@HolisticMama: Thank you!!! Hope the test wasn't lying and that the timing was perfect. I guess as of tomorrow (or Thurs?) I'll officially join the TWW....!!!!!

@ChiCalGoBee: Oh. So you are a roll-over just because of timing, not because you're out. I hope February is awesome.

hey guys, I'm new here and VERY excited to be joining this board! I have been waiting for my hubby to get on board before TTC and he finally agreed this month so we are officially TTC which is exciting for me. I'm already getting a little crazy, probably because I have been lurking on HB for months!
it's all quite new to me though, I keep having to look up all the acronyms! POAS, TTW, CM... I'm learning a lot! good luck ladies!

@Mrs.Lilac: Hooray! WELCOME!!
There are lots of sites out there with acronym lists. I usually just google when I come across something I don't understand.

Do you know what your cycle does? How long it is? When you might be ovulating?

@HolisticMama: well....had I not gotten a second on OPK (with a line darker than control line) this afternoon, I would have been "out" out. But since I managed a BD session today, I am hopefully just a Feb rollover. Timing is everything...fingers and toes crossed for O confirmation tomorrow or Friday!!! @snowjewelz thank you!!! @Mrs.Lilac welcome!!

@Mrs.Lilac: Welcome!!
Ugh so since AF came and I am on a new cycle, I've been trying to temp but 2 days I forgot, and so I finally put the thermometer next to my clock. But does waking up a lil bit to turn to another side to fall back asleep counts as disrupting the 3 hour sleep? I did that twice this morning so when I finally woke up I felt like I couldn't temp.
nectarine / 2784 posts
@snowjewelz: I don't think so, as long as you're not actually getting up and out of bed. There's a funny part in TCOYF that says something like "some women are more sensitive and some women can sleepwalk through snow without affecting their bbt"
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@anyajenkins: Hahaha I should try and do something weird just to see if my bbt changes!

thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I still can't believe we are finally trying!!! I'm so excited, don't know how I'm going to be able to wait to POAS each month (look, I'm learning the lingo!).
@HolisticMama: I only just stopped birth control this month so I have no idea about where I'm at with my cycle. I had the Mirena coil but not sure you if you guys have that in the US or call it something different (I'm from London). Anyway, AF hasn't arrived and that is probably due to my body getting used to be hormone free. The doctor told me it could take days or months for my body to get back to normal so god know?!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: FWIW, it took me a few cycles to really feel like my body was getting back to normal after about 10 years on hormonal B.C. (pills). I stopped in August, and started loosely charting at that point. If it takes your body a couple months it's totally normal . Also, I used to get killer cramps with my period back in high school. That hasn't been the case since getting off B.C. which really rocks. Good luck!

@Mrs.Lilac: You could look into seed cycling. http://www.realrawkitchen.com/2013/07/balancing-hormones-with-seed-cycling.html
My friend just went to a nutritionist who recommended it to get her hormones in a good place after having her last baby.

@Mrs.Lilac: This month is my first month off BCP too, and AF came pretty much on time, 1 day earlier, and it's shorter! I used to have 5 days of AF on BCP, and I'm on my 4th day and it's pretty much done. So I'm going to start temping & hopefully pinpointing O, hoping for a BFP in Feb!!

@ChiCalGoBee: that's really interesting about the. ramps being it as bad as I was really worried about that as I used to get horrendous cramps too. I hope I'm the same...
@HolisticMama: LOVE that seed cycling idea. I have never heard of this but actually, I add flax seeds and sunflower seeds to my green smoothies I make for breakfast so I'll just have to be more conscious of what I'm choosing to add and where I am in my cycle (once I figure it out!). so interesting!
@snowjewelz: I'm crossing my fingers it will be February too but I'm sure we all are! I can but dream. I'm getting so impatient. my OH keeps telling me to stop wishing time away and to go with the flow but I'm already finding it difficult. I have tremendous respect for ladies who have been TTC for a long time. it's weird that AF is different for you too.

@Mrs.Lilac I have a Mirena IUD. I don't know if that is the same as the Mirena coil? I have had mine for over 5 years, and my body has used up the hormones and am naturally cycling again, and just the physical presence of the IUD is preventing pregnancy until I get it removed this summer. My OBGYN said that once it is removed my cycles should not change much, as I will have been hormone free for almost a year. How long have you had yours? The hormone levels will probably have an impact on how long it takes you to get back in the groove of a regular cycle Best of luck with TTC!
I can't wait to join all of you ladies later this summer! Until then, I'll be popping in and out and lurking around!

I love this thread! I've started my 5th month of TTC. annnnd I REALLY REALLY do not want to start charting.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@HolisticMama: I may or may not be thinking/begging for that very thing in a few weeks!!! I also wanted to tell you I was sending some positive vibes and wishes to the ol' ute over the past 24 hours. Hoping it was doing what it's supposed to be doing. Hoping things were working. I figured it can't hurt, and it definitely calmed me and let me pretend I had some sort of control. Thanks for your positivity and zen-approach to this! My Type-A nutso-ness is thankful for you!

@tarariggins: I hear ya. I got off the pill in August and we used condoms while my husband came around to the idea that the baby thing we talked about 10 years ago is actually happening . By the time he got on board at the beginning of this month, I looked through the sporadic info I had entered into an App and told myself "eh, just go with the flow, whatever." However, I then realized that I've been actively wanting a baby for so long that I knew if there was SOMETHING I could control about the process, I figured it couldn't hurt. Previous to charting I "thought" I ovulated around day 14 based on the random notes I took. However, this cycle showed me that it was actually CD 19. I only have a 20% shot each month so I guess (for me!) it's worth knowing whether or not I timed things correctly.
All this is to say that, for me, the information is helpful. But if it's going to overwhelm you, skip it and just have lots and lots of sex all month long! GL with cycle 5!
persimmon / 1167 posts
@tarariggins: Really? I can't wait to start charting. LOL. I feel like I'm treating myself as a big science experiment. Do you think that you are pretty well acquainted with your cycle?
@ChiCalGoBee: Yes, I suppose to toe the line of being ultra zen and just absolutely crazy. I actually went to a psychologist today that spoke to me about energy psychology. I had ZERO idea that was even a thing. She recommended this book, which I am TOTALLY going to get: http://www.amazon.com/Energy-Medicine-Women-Aligning-Energies/dp/1585426474

@ChiCalGoBee: This is why it's so crazy that many people just get pregnant so quickly, or a lot of people have unplanned pregnancies! I'm like man, maybe I didn't need to so actively prevent pregnancy before?!
persimmon / 1167 posts
@tarariggins: Yeah. My reproductive endocrinologist recommends not spending money on fertility tools and use that money buying wine and dinners and spending quality time with DH.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: sounds exactly like what happened with me and my husband! and then he got way more excited about a possible baby than i was. he even texts me randomly and asks me if i like certain baby names. haha! i guess charting just makes it sound like work when i think ttc should be a lot of fun.
@HolisticMama: i THINK i know my cycle fairly well, but probably not well enough! my husband and i are still kind of newlyweds so we are still in the phase where we have sex often. so i guess in my mind i am thinking that we must be doing it when i'm ovulating. charting couldn't hurt though!

@ChiCalGoBee: @HolisticMama: haha I love it!
Well I'm trying not to symptom spot but I have been super hungry.. And tired bit that's probably just because Friday at work is always the longest day of my life
Anyone else joining me soon?

@tarariggins: I love charting! I love visual interpretations of data lol
persimmon / 1167 posts
@tarariggins: You're right on the money. I AGREE. TTC SHOULD be fun. I think charting and exploring myself is super fun. If you think it would not be so fun...just try to listen to your body, feel around for cervical mucus, drink some wine and try for babies when the urge strikes. Healthy sperm can hang out and really thrive for 3-5 days!

@anyajenkins: I adore symptom spotting. So I guess I will join you on all fronts. I'm also hungry. I can't wait to get home. And I have started testing. Don't know what will come of it, but it will be an adventure regardless.
Oh. But I'm not tired. This morning I woke up with some really nice energy, which is usually so darn strange for me at this point in my cycle. :: shrugs ::

@HolisticMama: I think I'll pick up some of my favorite moscato tonight and take me a hot bubble bath with the husband.
