the bane of my existence ! I literally just spent 15 minutes with a fitted sheet and Martha Stewart YouTube tutorial only to end up cussing at the sheet and throwing it in the linen closet rolled up.
Do you know how to fold a fitted sheet ?

Do you know how to fold a fitted sheet ?

Nope, they just get kind of folded, kinda of wadded up in the closet

I attempt to do the Martha fold, but it still ends up a little lumpy.

I've just always wadded them up. No matter how many online and in person tutorials I get they still make me curse.

Yeah, after I saw "The Martha Way" years ago, I have to fold them that way. Even though I get lazy sometimes, I still have to fold the corners in. IDK why...

I had to google it, but I guess I fold them the Martha way! Never knew it had a name lol.

i have a certain way of folding fitted sheets that i think is even better than martha's way. i know, bold statement. i've been meaning to blog it for like a year now, so maybe i'll get around to it some time this summer.

@luckypenny: ahhhhhh, I tried the same tutorial = FAIL.
Fitted sheets are the bane of my existence, too!

I wash, dry, and stick it back on the bed! We are bad and only have 1 fitted sheet at a time. We use it until we need a new one. Call me lazy. lol

...a pain in the patootie!!! Like @Mrs Hedgehog: we only have one, so I don't need to fold it. Thank goodness!!

Heck no - I don't have time for that! I usually start out with good intentions, but end up with a lump of linens that is anything but "folded"!

I sort of fold it the Martha way but it still looks messy. But then I put that, the flat sheet, and one pillowcase in a stack and put it in the other pillow case so they all stay together and you can't see the messy fold.

Nope. We own....two? One stays in the closet and the other (the better one) just gets washed and put back on the bed. The same day.
Pillowcase is smart! I've watched videos on how to fold fitted sheets and I just cannot do it.

I never fold them. Why bother? I don't understand why people iron their sheets, either.

Hahahah. Saw the post title and had to laugh. I just lay it down, make sure both ends are flipped over and then fold. It's always ugly but I don't care!! Who's looking in my linen closet anyways other than us and maybe my mom once in a while.

DH is really good at folding fitted sheets. I don't have the patience. So I always leave the fitted sheets unfolded on the bed, and he folds them when he comes home!

@softcream: I want to see!!!!
Yeah I gave up folding these a long time ago!

. . . the devil! It makes this OCD girl tick! >.<
@Mrs. Pen: @softcream: You totally have to share! I just watched a refresher video on the Martha way, but if there is an even better way, bring it on! *prettypleasewithsugar*

My mom taught me how to fold them. I can't get mine quite as neat as hers. I'm not sure what the Martha way is.
pomegranate / 3895 posts
Yes, I do. My mother is kind of obsessive about those sorts of things so she taught me
It's just all about tucking the corners into one another and then folding into a rectangle.
nectarine / 2085 posts
My method: Lay it on the bed with the elastic up in an oval, fold into thirds lengthwise (i.e., fold the top and bottom thirds in like an envelope) and then fold into thirds crosswise. Done. You can do some smoothing as you go to make it nice and neat, but I usually don't because there is typically a 30-pounder jumping on my sheets while I fold them and there is more to life than uncreased sheets, you know?

@softcream: do tell woman!!
@Foodnerd81: I've seen the pillowcase thing before too...maybe I'll give that a whirl
@katiew92081: my mom is a sheet ironer! I always feel so guilty that I don't do it but who the heck has time for that??
pear / 1697 posts
If it is the kind with elastic *just* around the corners, I can make them come out neat and tidy. Can,. I wouldn't say that I usually do.
If it is the kind with elastic all the way around or even just all the way along the short edges I can never made them come out anything except lumpy.

I fold it the Martha way! Took a couple tries, but comes second nature now! It's not as pretty as hers of course, but it's "neatly" folded so I'll take it. Ha!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
I do it the martha way! I was so happy when I saw that and my sheets could be folded nice and neat!
