My wardrobe is in a sad state and desperately needs some updating. I need some new skinny jeans but my old ones from Old Navy and Gap don't seem to be doing my butt any favors. What are some of your favorite go-to brands for skinny jeans that don't give you pancake butt and also don't break the bank. I'm also 5'1 so they would have to fit a more petite size. Thanks for your thoughts!

Not jeans, but I love the Old Navy Pixie pants. I have SERIOUS pancake butt & they give me a little bit of a booty. The stretch makes them really comfortable too. The ankle would probably fit like regular skinnies & you wouldn't even need to get them hemmed.
As for jeans, I've been buying from Target the past couple years. I don't love them, but I don't hate them either. That's saying a lot though... I usually hate jeans. And cheap!

I like my skinny jeans from Express, and they aren't too expensive if you catch them on sale.

I like my skinny jeans from a urban Outfitters! They're the Twigg mid-rise.

I love Democracy brand jeans - they have a little bit of stretch and not super low-rise and very comfortable. They retail for like $50-80 but I bought mine at Costco last fall/winter for $30 a pair. I'd keep my eye out to see if they bring them back again.

actually way into the rockstar jeans from ON. While my body transitions from BFing weight loss back to regular weight, those have been great!

I just bought a pair of super skinnies from H&M and I love them! I'm in the UK though and they don't always carry the same stock in the US but could be worth checking out. They were £20, so about $33 USD.

I know you said no Old Navy- but have you tried the Rockstar skinnies from there? They're awesome- I have two pairs!

I have two pairs of Gap's legging jeans and I love it. It's super comfortable and isn't really low rise and I'm sure they carry in petit sizes as well. It's normally $70 but I bought them when they have their one item for 45% off if you use the Gap card. They do go on sale so worth keeping an eye out.

Try the a Hue leggings brand. Macy's carries them in the hosiery section. While I haven't tried the denim ones, I have a pair of their corduroy ones and I get compliments whenever I wear them. They are the only pants I've had where other women who are absolute strangers have approached me to ask where I've gotten them.

@NCSUchick27: i second the skinny jeans from express! they're the only jeans I've found that fit me perfectly (i'm barely 5'1") without having to be rolled/hemmed/folded at the bottom. The skinny jeans with the ankle zippers are especially flattering. I always get them when they're on sale, which is pretty often.

I haven't worn them but my friend swears by American eagle skinny jeans. With sales, price is totally manageable too.

Gap skinny jeans work well. They don't hug the ankle which I like , so it still feels like jeans and not leggings.

I am barely 5'1" and I love Hue jeggings; they are thick and have back pockets, super comfortable! I also love Uniqlo. I bought mine on vacation in Asia but I think all their stores have free alterations?

I love Denizen from Target. They are super comfy and not low rise. They also sell short which I also have to buy.

not a fan of gap/old navy jeans for myself. i would check out h&m, forever 21, and urban!

I have Paige black skinnies that I love. I also just bought the Gap high rise skinnies, they come to just below the belly button so not too "mom jean" high rise if that makes sense. They seem to help my pancake butt while sucking in the postpartum flab.

I really like the Loft jeans. They are pretty reasonable and come in petite (which I also need at 5'3").

I like my American Eagle skinny jeans. There's a high rise version so you don't have to worry about your butt crack showing. I think it's only sold online. So I would try on some skinny jeans in the store than go up to the cashier and ask to order the high-rise skinny jeans. They'll give you free shipping in the store.

American Eagle is my go-to for jeans, they fit me so well from there! I am 5'0" and their "short" lengths are perfect
