We got a call that my husband's grandfather was in the hospital so we booked a flight from Seattle to Mobile, AL for the next day. I was sooooooo stressed bc I had no time to prepare myself...LO is almost 8 months and never flew before. We packed a backpack full of toys/books to take on the plane with us and 2 pouches of baby food. It's times like these I am so happy she is still breastfeeding.
That morning we woke up at 5:00am to have plenty of time to make it for our 8:50 flight. I see there is a missed call on our home phone (we turned the ringer off on our upstairs phones and didn't hear it downstairs). The airline called and said oir flight has been delayed so we will miss our connection in Dallas (no direct flights to Mobile)...so they booked us on a 7:00 flight so try to make it to the airport by 6:30am. I was majorly stressed and went upstairs to tell my husband while he was in the shower (fortunately I showered the before going to bed). We made it to the airport in time.
The first leg from seattle to Dallas went great...there were 2 other babies on the flight and they were all great. LO was a little fussy from being tired but couldn't sleep. As we we were landing she put her head down on my shoulder and feel asleep so I carried her off the plane that way and she slept for about a hour as we grabbed some food and waited for our connecting flight. For some reason LO would not nurse even though it was about time for her to eat. I was so stressed but she ate her second pouch of baby food (we nursed and fed her on the first leg with no problem).
She finally nursed on the second flight into Mobile and fell asleep in my arms. We have been here 2 nights and she is doing great - slept 12 hours! I am beyond proud of her and feel so blessed that our last minute trip has gone so well so far. Please keep your fingers crossed for an uneventful flight back home and say a little prayer for us!
