Husband is the best man in a destination wedding outside the country. We can't bring LO, so we are having to pay for one of our parents to fly to stay here with LO. Then, I will also be docked a day of pay because the wedding is Monday EVENING of Memorial Day, so we can't fly out till Tuesday--and since I'm a teacher, there's a rule that we can't take a personal day before or after a holiday, so my pay will be docked, so we'll be out at additional $300.

Total, we'll be paying well over $3000 to attend this 3-day weekend wedding. The bride and groom's website says "gifts aren't necessary, since we know you are traveling to be with us, but if you insist, cash is appreciated".

So, do we give them a cash or do we take them at their word that no gifts are necessary?
