I worry about privacy.. which is why I haven't shared my blog with too many people. :T I think it's definitely worth starting a blog though. If I hadn't started one for my LO I totally would have forgotten how my labor went, milestones, etc.

I blog and I don't worry too much about privacy only because I made a point to only write about things that I wouldn't be worried about people knowing. In terms of pictures...Well, I'm okay with the pictures I post. The only thing I hate is when people lurk...People I know (but don't like) who like to just spy on my life and know shiz about me. I got rid of Facebook for this reason.

I totally worry. That's why I don't post any of our names (well, except for the dog) and I don't write about anything that I wouldn't tell a stranger at the grocery store.

For some reason I don't worry too much about privacy in terms of blogging. My xanga name actually includes both my maiden name and my last name. I love blogging and I love looking back on my own old blog posts!

I don't know how I'll feel then, but right now I want to be pretty conservative with sharing pictures of our future LOs, for two reasons:

1. Back in the day, you had so much control over images of your kids. The only ways they could really get out of your control is if someone you gave a picture to gave it away without your permission, or if someone developing the film stole the image. Nowadays, the second you upload something to the Internet, it is out of your control forever. There have been cases of people's Facebook pictures of their babies being used in marketing - companies just pulled them off Google! That squicks me out. Not to mention the disgusting pedophiles that are out there.

2. The way the Internet has changed our society makes me wonder how today's children will feel in 20 years about how their online identities were shaped before they could consent. Again, it used to be the rare case that someone could be "known" outside their family and social circle when they were young. If one of your parents was a writer and wrote about you, or if your parents were famous, or if you were a child model/actor. Now I know all about some kids who I have never met and never will meet, and I know their names and what they look like, because their mom blogs. Maybe this will become the norm, but I don't feel like it's my right to choose this for my child.

So with my current stance, I'd be a boring blogger! Maybe when I have a gorgeous baby to show off I will feel differently.

@daniellemybelle: I think you wrote out your opinion very eloquently. The only time I ever wrote publically was when I was planning my wedding, but my husband and I required that users be registered to see photos and read the blog content. I personally don't like the idea of being potentially identified as I am in the grocery store or while on vacation at WDW (granted, that would take a lot of readers, but still). I also worry that someone would eventually connect the dots and be able to deduce where my kid goes to school. That worries me beyond belief. There's just sooo much info available out there, it's really crazy.
