How soon after giving birth are you back into your high heels? We have a gala to attend next weekend and I have a pair I really want to wear. They are about 4" high but the gala is only three hours long. Would you be okay wearing heels that soon and that long? I had a c-section if that matters.

I had a c-section also, and I wore a pair of 3.5-4 inch cork wedges to her first doctor's appointment when she was a week old. I also had an event to go to when she was about 3 weeks old that I was in 4 inch heels for. How long ago did you have the baby? I was totally fine in the wedges, but with the heels it forced me to lean forward a bit. So if you are at all tender, Id suggest wearing a belly band (I had the belly bandit) as that helps a TON with the ache

I COULD have work heels right away; the issue was more that I felt disgusting and leaky and fat for a while and didn't want to dress up, period!
And I kinda sucked at breastfeeding for a while and would contort into crazy positions if I thought they'd get DS to latch better. So my back was sore for a while- that's probably the only thing that might have made me hesitate about wearing higher heels (I'll always wear low heels, that never bothers me) for a while. -
Thank you ladies. I gave birth about 2.5 weeks ago. Maybe I should look at wedges.

Wait, you're going to an event 2.5 weeks after giving birth? Like, in a dress? Eeek. I don't think I could pull that off.

Haha! I have a lucky pregnancy body where I only gained 25 pounds and now only have another 10 to lose. I still have to buy a new gown though since the others don't fit! I have a feeling I'll be sitting at a table for most of the night.

Well shoot me ladies! I felt great tonight and decided to wear a pair of stilettos instead of the wedges and it was such a mistake! I could feel the ache in my abdomen first and then my back was killing me! I had to present a check at 10:00 and I barely made it onto the stage
I've learned my lesson.

I still had too much swelling in my feet and legs to wear my usual heels for the first 2 months but by month 3 all the swelling was finally gone and I was back to my heels.

@ecogirl: Sorry you over did it! I find that's one hazard of a relatively quick/easy recovery. I'm 1.5 weeks post-partum and am feeling pretty great so sometimes I forget what my body has just been through and do too much. Don't forget to take it easy

I wore 4" wedges about 2 weeks after DD was born. We went out to dinner, so I was sitting down most of the time. It was a little uncomfortable because my feet hadn't worn heels in over a month, but it wasn't terrible. It felt nice to actually dress up, even if I was a little flabby.
