Did you go to the photographer's studio, or did the photographer take the pictures at your house? All of the photographers I like in this area want parents and baby to come to their studio, which makes me a little nervous... considering the baby would be so little, and I may still be recovering.

My photographer came to our house. I think majority of photographers in my area don't even have studios. Many are natural light photographers. I think it was nice having her come. We took our time and we didn't have to pack up a newborn to take somewhere. Plus, we got some family photos in our bedroom. But I think it's totally doable to take the baby to a studio.

We actually had ours done in the hospital. Our hospital offered a service through a photog studio so we figured that would be easiest.

We went to her studio/house. She set up her living room and put the heater really hot so it was nice and toasty in there. She's a friend, so I was more comfortable going there than I would have been if it was a stranger.

She came to our house. I liked it because she got lots of shots of the nursery, and we got a family picture with our pup.

Came to our house when DD wa 11 days old. I'm not a fan of studio photography. I think more candid/journalistic photos are so much more authentic. It also allowed us to take a break, change outfits, grab a snack, etc

Our photog came to our house. He does't have a studio. I wouldn't feel comfortable going to someones house with a newborn.

We went to the photographer's house/studio when C was 7 days old. She was really patient and scheduled plenty of time for nursing sessions and such as needed. She was prepared with white noise, blankets, hats and accessories, a space heater, etc.

We went to the photog's studio. BabyGloss was 11 days old . . . it actually went really smoothly.
@pelikila: Exactly. Our photog also had white noise, a huge heater, and tons of props . . . it was obviously not her first rodeo.

She came to our house but she normally takes them at her studio. She brought all her props and equipment and set up everything in our living room. She had us turn the heat up high to make sure LO would be warm enough for the naked photos.

I asked to go to her studio (basement of her house). My place is small and we have a dog and cat. I felt it was easier to go there and she will have all her stuff so we would have more options. We drove about an hour to her studio.

We went to her house/studio. She has this beautiful 3 season room off the back of her house that lets in all the natural light, not to mention all her backdrops and props that were there. She had the heater going too and we felt very comfortable. She offered to come to our house, but prefers to do it in her home where she knows the light etc. We've been back a few times with her for pics and they're always great!

we went to their studio at 8 days old. they had everything set up and heaters going and were really patient with him when he fussed a little. let him eat and then got back to business haha

We went there, since it was a lot cheaper to do it that way. That way too she had everything she needed. She even had it all warmed up already.

Our photog came to our house and it was nice! The baby got a little fussy and I was able to go nurse him really quick and bring him back for more pics. However, our shoot was more of a lifestyle shoot rather than the newborn pics w lots of props and poses. DH and I were in some of them, and she photographed the nursery etc

Our photographer came to our house. I think it depends on what type of newborn photos you want. If you want the newborn with props photos (sleeping in a basket, etc.), then the studio will have better lighting, temperature, and more props. But if you want the more photojournalistic approach, "real" candid sweet moments of the baby (and the family), then I think going to your home is better.

We had ours done in the hospital and it was perfect. THere was no way I was coordinated or comfortable enough to plan and leave the house for photos when we were recovering.

I think our hospital takes some pictures, but our photographer will come to our house to take them.

We went to the photographers studio. She sets aside hours (think 3+) for each newborn session and likes the pictures to be done within the first 10 days. She is very easy going and lets things happen on babies cues so when DS needed a nursing break she would let us nurse until he was ready to move on. We used her for our engagement pictures too with our dogs and she was the same way working with animals...the first 45 minutes there she just let the dogs run around to get used to things.
ETA: We also did the in hospital pics within the first 24 hours, but they are nothing compared to what our photographer was able to do! We will do the same things time around as well.

We went to the studio. Our photographer is a pro when it comes to newborn photos. She has heaters going in the studio so it's super warm, she has a nursing station set up so you can nurse the baby as much as needed (she books each session for 3 hours so there's plenty of time for nursing etc.), and she has wipes on hand for any accidents that happen (since baby is naked a lot for the shoot).

We're going to the photog's house/studio for the newborn session. The drive will be a bit long, but I prefer it this way since we aren't doing much with the nursery and our bedroom is pretty boring also.

She came to our house with a TON of props to choose from. She had a space heater and also suggested pre heating the house for naked baby warmth. She likes to do them at home so she can get in your element shots (I.e. family on the bed, baby in nursery).

She came to our house which was a huge deal because LO was premature, came home during flu season and we were SO scared to take him out in public! It was so nice to not have to get dressed up and to be in the comfort of our own house

Ours came to the house and we really liked her approach. I like that our pics have her nursery in them and include some funny pics of our kitty, who just couldn't be left out. We had to have it very toasty in the room. Luckily, her room faces the rising sun so we had wonderful light.

I did rows newborn photos, obviously at our house. When I do newborn sessions I go to their house because I like more lifestyle pics than the set up shots. I work with what the parents have but recommend white noise and a heated room!

She came to us. We didn't do prop-type pictures, and I loved having them done in her nursery and our first house.
