This morning at daycare drop off, we had an epic meltdown due to the fact that DD forgot her lovey at home. She's 3 and she knows it is her responsibility it grab it in the morning if she wants it. I keep a back up stuffed animal in the car, so she had something for nap, but it's "not the same." How do you handle the forgetting/losing of lovey?

I tell her that it will be waiting for her when she gets home, and that she needs to remember to get it next time. Then I will just distract her or let the teacher take her.
Is it possible to have a "loveys are only for the house" rule and she use a different blanket for daycare? My DD is obsessed with her loveys but we were able to get her on board with leaving it for bedtime only. She has an a&a blanket at school.

We have like 6 loveys (they are small fleece towels the size of a washcloth) to wash and rotate. We always keep one in the car for car rides, 2 in the crib, and 3 clean ones on deck. Once we start daycare in January, I will be keeping one in the daycare bag for sure. He only gets it for naps and bedtime and car rides, so no Linus-style dragging about.

It's terrible! This happened to us yesterday. One of the teachers let her borrow one of the babies at school and she was happy. Forgetting pink baby means epic school meltdown.

@Freckles: I tried this, she need the EXACT blanket, even a duplicate doesn't do because "it looks different." aka it's fresh and clean not dingy and faded ha.
