I've been blogging for about 5 years now off and on and have been writing here for about 8 months. I'm looking to get into more paid blogging/freelance writing gigs and am so very very overwhelmed with where to start. Anyone have any advice or a direction to take?

I dabbled for a short while. I had to stop because I didn't "need" the income and was attempting to do it with no childcare and while I was (am) battling some major health issues. Elna Cain has a few free email courses. As does Jorden Roper of Writers Revolt. I got a few good ghostwriting jobs on problogger but ghostwriting isn't great for advancement. I guess none of this is real advice, just resources.

I've been freelancing for awhile and make a decent income doing it. The best advice I can give you is to focus on a specific niche -- it's very hard to be a freelance generalist. One obvious direction would be parenting writing; I actually turned experience writing here into a niche reviewing baby/kid products, which broadened into consumer products in general, then personal finance.
Feel free to wall me if you want; I can rattle off some places to look for gigs and maybe get you into a couple of FB groups that might be helpful.
