My LO has mastered standing independently ( )--for a good 20-30 seconds at a time. How long did it take your LO after he/she could stand independently before the first steps (without support) were taken.

Not long! A couple months, I think. Standing at 8 month and walking a little before 10 months

for us it was only a a week or so. But he started walking at 9.5 months, so it all happened crazy fast.

Couple weeks to her first step, and then another month before regularly walking.

@blackbird: That's what I was wondering. It took around 6 weeks between my LO rocking on all fours before she actually crawled.
@Mrs. Lion: That is so fast!

@bisous: So. I just went and looked and I was totally wrong. Apparently the holidays went by really fast for us. He let go and "stood" by himself for the first time at 8.5 months, and took his first steps almost exactly a month later. He was standing up from the floor right around 9 months without needing to pull up, and then started taking steps a couple weeks later. Funny how our memories don't work. This was only 3 months ago. Sigh.

A long time! She was standing around 12-13 months (first step on Halloween at just 13 months). She didn't start walking til 15.5 months.

About a month or so for us. Standing at 11 months, first steps at 12 months, and officially walking (across the room) at 13 months.

Sounds like the range of normal is wide! I wonder whether my LO will be walking by the time we are on vacation in May! That is right before her first birthday.

@blackbird: Ah! So quick; I'm not ready! Our daughter is starting to let go of support, and remaining upright for a few seconds, at 8.5 months.
