I'm taking students on a study abroad trip next year. The group is looking for fundraising ideas. Thoughts?
Thank you:)

Car wash! We always did them for cheerleading and made loads of money!

@looch: Good idea! I think a lot of students/staff would get into this.
@littlebug @peacelily: This is probably a dumb question, but where is the ideal location for this? At school?

@winter_wonder: The school my parents taught at did a yeti cup fundraiser last year that was very popular, especially if you can plan it that they arrive in time as Christmas gifts.

Our local school rents out students to help with chores around the house. Lawn mowing, stacking wood, etc. I think its an awesome idea

I love Silva's idea. Most fundraisers only raise a small percentage of what you are asking people to pay. So if I spend $40 for dinner or wrapping paper, you get $2-3. I'd much prefer a no overhead fundraiser like shoveling snow, lawn work, or a parents night out.

@winter_wonder: We did ours in the parking lot at a local playground/baseball field. It was so much fun.

We used to sell homemade baked goods at school events (school plays, recitals, dances, parent's nights, etc.).
Or hot chocolate before school.

-car wash
-citrus fruit sale (we did this to help pay for our trip in HS, took orders and a giant truck drove up from Florida with grapefruit/oranges, then we hand delivered orders)
-"students for hire"- babysitting, raking, snow shoveling, odd jobs and all money goes to the trip.
-Fundraising dinners/days at local businesses- for ex, 15% of your order at a pizza place on a certain day goes to the trip, and the students help drive business there

@Tanjowen: ooo! I like it!
@pollywog: good point
@silva @lionseyes: good idea on students for hire. There are quite a few older adults nearby who may need help with yard work.

Someone I know was just posting recently about how her kids were selling 31 bags as a fundraiser for a school trip. I'd never heard of it as a fundraiser before, but thought it was a good idea because it was something different.

@LemonJack: Nice! I hadn't heard of that before. I like the new ideas to keep things interesting
