My LO (12 weeks old) seems to have a big fuss (sometimes mild with just some protesting, and other times with full-out crying) every time before he sleeps, nap or night time. I hate it. Is it something I'm doing or do some babies just need to get like that?

No matter what, he likes a little snuggle with rocking or walking or bouncing before falling asleep. (And for night time I nurse him to sleep).

If I try to catch him at earlier stages of sleep, when he is just yawning and not fussing yet, then he ends up starting the fuss/cry IN my arms.

If I leave it too late, he has a bigger cry, but then he settles into sleeping much faster in my arms.

Does he just need to expend some energy? Will he grow out of this crying-before-sleeping phase? Will I learn to sleep him better?

PS. He does not take a paci.
